AFRAVIH is organising the 9th International Francophone Conference on HIV and Hepatitis to be held in Bordeaux, France from 4 to 7 April 2018.Bordeaux, which enjoys international acclaim in the fields of medicine, public health, education and research, is honoured and proud to host a French-speaking community dedicated to achieving more equitable healthcare for all. AFRAVIH 2018 Bordeaux will bring together stakeholders active in the fight against HIV/AIDS and hepatitis, focussing on effective prevention and treatment for at-risk and/or infected populations.In 2018, we will be two years away from the 90-90-90 target set by UNAIDS.Significant progress is hoped for while gains remain to be assessed and challenges overcome.Prevention will be a core focus of our strategy, driven by the “PrEP for all, PrEP now” slogan which was our parting call in Brussels in 2016.Viral hepatitis will also be a key feature of these prevention and treatment strategies which need to be boosted and applied across the board.

Our world is changing, bringing its share of concerns for the future.By 2018, world health governance will have changed and strategies reviewed but funding will no doubt remain uncertain.The Conference will also offer access to the latest information, and provide a forum for discussing policies, programmes and practices, while ensuring equality goes hand in hand with the progress we achieve.We would like to extend a warm welcome to all our sponsors, international organisations, NGOs, patient representatives, pharmaceutical companies and civil society actors who together make this conference possible, ensuring that the voice of the francophone world AFRAVIH represents has the opportunity to be heard.As in previous years, the scholarship programme implemented with the help of our sponsors, organisations and foundations will enable numerous stakeholders and researchers from resource-limited countries to attend AFRAVIH 2018.Drawing on its expertise and style, Bordeaux, capital of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, will ensure that the 9th Francophone Conference by AFRAVIH is an excellent vintage.We are expecting you all!

Pour sa 9ème édition en 2018, la Conférence Internationale Francophone VIH/Hépatites se tiendra à Bordeaux.L’AFRAVIH organise sa 9ème Conférence Internationale Francophone de lutte contre le VIH et les Hépatites à Bordeaux, du 4 au 7 avril 2018.Bordeaux, forte de son rayonnement international dans le champ de la médecine, de la santé publique, de la formation et de la recherche est honorée et fière d’accueillir une communauté francophone engagée pour une santé mieux partagée.AFRAVIH 2018 Bordeaux rassemblera en effet les acteurs engagés dans la lutte contre le VIH/Sida et les hépatites virales avec une exigence d’efficacité pour la prévention et le traitement des populations exposées ou atteintes.En 2018, deux ans nous sépareront de la cible 90-90-90 fixée par Onusida. Des progrès importants sont attendus, des succès à évaluer, des défis à surmonter.La prévention sera au cœur de notre stratégie portée par le slogan « La PreP partout, la PreP maintenant » sur lequel nous nous sommes quittés à Bruxelles en 2016.Les hépatites virales seront également au cœur de ces politiques préventives et thérapeutiques qui doivent être renforcées et partagées.

Notre monde change, et les préoccupations d’avenir ne manquent pas. En 2018 la gouvernance de la santé mondiale aura été renouvelée, les stratégies auront été remaniées, mais les financements resteront sans doute incertains. proGramme de boursesL’OBJECTIF A chaque édition, l’objectif de la Conférence est d’accueillir le plus grand nombre possible d’acteurs de santé ou de jeunes chercheurs travaillant dans les pays du Sud. Ces boursiers bénéficient d’une prise en charge totale (voyage, hébergement, inscription, per diem) ou partielle.Les bourses sont attribuées en priorité par le Comité des bourses aux personnes francophones travaillant comme professionnel de santé dans le domaine du VIH ou des hépatites, comme chercheur sur le VIH ou les hépatites ou comme acteur de la lutte contre le VIH ou les hépatites, et qui présentent une communication acceptée en session orale ou en poster.

LES CRITÈRES D’ATTRIBUTION• Travailler dans un pays en développement ou être engagé dans la lutte contre le VIH

ou les hépatites (professionnels de santé, chercheurs, doctorants, cliniciens, milieux associatifs, etc.).

• Avoir un résumé accepté par le comité scientifique.

scHolarsHip proGrammeOBJECTIVE Each year, the Conference aims to award as many scholarships as possible to healthcare stakeholders and young researchers working in developing countries.Scholarships are awarded by the Scholarship Committee primarily to French-speaking people working as healthcare professionals, researchers, or activists in the field of HIV or hepatitis and whose abstract is accepted for either an oral or a poster session.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS• Work in a developing country or be involved in the fight against HIV and/or hepatitis

(healthcare professionals, researchers, doctoral students, clinicians, and non-profit sector)

• Have an abstract accepted by the Scientific Committee.

HOW TO APPLYYou can submit your application online from 17 September to 20 December 2017 on the AFRAVIH 2018 website: www.afravih2018.org.If you do not have access to the Internet, contact the Conference secretariat at +33 (0)4 26 20 42 46.

NOTIFICATION OF AWARDEESApplications will be examined by a selection committee, taking into account applicants’ experience and whether their abstract has been accepted. Scholarship awardees will be notified by email in early February 2018..
