ISSUE 2 - AUGUST 2012

Greetings.

The installation of new team 2012-13 was a grand show and a BIG fatty thanks to all

the Rotarians & Anns. It was a pleasure to hear humorous stories from Chief guest

PDG.Subbu on the installation day. On 10th July, Mrs.Maheswari Siva was installed as IWC

Adyar President. We also had an joint meeting on 17th July with RCM South,

which had a very good response. On 24th Mr.Vijay spoke on exercise. Last meeting was a

closed door meeting where the Directors presented their plans for the year 12-13.

Sishya School Interact club was installed on 12th july. Rtn.R.Srinivasan, Director New Generation was the Chief Guest.

Year after year interact club of this wonderful School is growing in stature, achievements and dedication to community. The

Secretary report and the treasurer report were presented in a professional manner.

The MNM Engineering Rotaract Club new office bearers were installed by our AG.Rtn.George Cherian. During Second

week of July 2012, even before they assume office these Rotaractors helped us to do the base line survey in

Nallambakkam Village at Kandigai Panchayath. I appreciate that Rtrs.Nousath Ali and team did a wonderful job and the

work done by these students was commendable.

The Patrician College Rotaract installation was on 28th and the office bearers were installed by Rotaract District chairman

Rtn.Murali R Rao. Immediately after the installation they had conducted a blood donation camp. 300 students donated

blood in the camp.

On 31st July , new office bearers of Interact Club of Devi Academy were installed by Rtn.M.Ravindranath, Associate

Chairman, Interact.

Our youthful new generation Director Rtn.Boopathi Raja did a commendable job.

We have started fresh innings in Puthyuir Parisu for this year. PP.Rtn.Veerramani donated 35 Kits on 9th July on his

daughter Mrs.Nitya’s birthday. PP.Rtn.Vittal Rajan donated 35 kits on his daughter Ms.Ananya Rajan’s birthday.

Rtn.Veerramani also donated 10 kits on the same day.

INSTALLATION CEREMONY OF THE NEW TEAMFOR THE ROTARY YEAR 2012-2013

Rotary Wheel took another turn. The new Rotary Year had begun. This is the season of Installations in the Rotary World. The new team for Rotary Club of Adyar (2012-13) was installed on the 3rd July, 2012 at Hotel Savera. The meeting was a perfect spectacle of proper planning, team work and meticulous execution.

Rtn.Gopalakrishnan and Rtn.Suganthi who were the Master of ceremonies for the event, presented the event in a lively manner to the gathering.

District Governor Rtn.Subbu released the Annual Report for 2011-12. This was followed by release of First Bulletin issue for this year (2012-13) by Governor Rtn.Subbu. (I should say, they took a bad picture of me, hence not posting it in the bulletin)

After the dignitaries were called to the dais and duly honored, the outgoing President Rtn.Venkatakrishnan delivered his welcome address. He briefly touched upon the milestones navigated during the previous year.

Outgoing Secretary Rtn.Narayan presented the Secretary report with interesting photographs and data, which brought out forcefully the range and reach of the activities of the Club. (I could see 1000 watts light glowing in Anne Dhanya’s face)

No wonder the Club has won a basket of laurels at the Awards Night. Rtn.Vittal Rajan introduced the incoming President Rtn.Siva to the audience. The President was installed as Rtn.Venkata Krishnan affixed the lapel pin and handed over the Collar and gavel. The other Board members for 2012-13 were also installed.

President Rtn.Siva, in his acceptance speech congratulated the outgoing team. He outlined the plans of the Club for the year and assured the DG that all avenues of service will be covered. He touched upon the difficulties but was confident of overcoming them. He was certain that the Secretary and all the Directors would pitch in with full energy to accomplish the high expectations, the Club has created in the District.

The morning shows the day, they say. Our club started the year with a project - Awarding the school toppers. The Overall Outgoing Student Award and Topper in Chemistry Subject was awarded to 2 schools (Sornammal Higher Secondary School and Devi Academy).

Rtn.Kannan, Zonal Secretary introduced the Chief Guest DG Rtn.Subbu. DG Rtn.Subbu praised the Club for its good work and requested the new team to keep up the good work. He said he had a lot of expectations from this Club and was sure that he would not be disillusioned. He outlined the priorities and exhorted Rotarians to concentrate on all avenues of service to have a balanced growth.

The meeting ended with Vital Statistics, Allegiance to 4 Way test, Last Laugh and National Anthem. The camaraderie of Rotary was visible in the number of visiting Rotarians who had graced the occasion. Indeed, the Rotary Club of Adyar was celebrating the annual change of guard with its usual exuberance.

The speaker of the evening was Mr. Earnest Vijay. He spoke about fitness and exercise.

Lemme tell you my mantra on staying fit. Start your day with 30 mins of active jogging in the morning,split your meals, don’t starve, and take fruits on an empty stomach. Above all, an active mind with nonegative thoughts. Try to spend more time with grandparents and kids. Best way to forget everything!!!
