    Since 1993, more than 700 graduates representing 65 different nationalities

    from 5 continents have already received the diploma from the International Institute

    for the Management of Logistics. An increasing number of high-level companies

    enhance the value of the IML education program and offer the graduates

    a very diversied spectrum of job opportunities.

    WHATISGLOBALSUPPLYCHAINMANAGEMENT?

    The study program Global Supply Chain Management has been designed to provide all participantswith the know-how, the competence and confdence necessary or the planning and implementation o

    logistical and supply chain projects at the strategic as well as the operational levels.- It is open to executives and uture executives specifcally interested in supply chain management;some previous experience at executive level is required.- It promotes research in Logistics and global supply chain management.- It contributes to the development o modern logistics management methods and organizations.

    The participants will develop a broad logistical culture based on technical, economical and managerialknowledge enabling project evaluation to be made by adding considerations rom an entrepreneurialpoint o view.

    THEINTERNATIONALINSTITUTEFORTHEMANAGEMENTOFLOGISTICS

    IML was created in 1990 as a partnership between the Ecole Polytechnique Fdrale de Lausanne,

    the cole des Ponts ParisTech, the group AFT.IFTIM and a large number o industrial and servicecompanies.

    During the years, through its postgraduate educational program and research activities, IML

    has made itsel known as an important international institute acting in the feld o Logistics.

    In 1998, it received the Award o Excellence rom the Institute o Transport Management (ITM)

    in Birmingham.

    IML has strengthened its international dimension by creating a partnership with dierent universitiesrom the world, particularly with:- Universit Laval- European and American universities- South American, Asian and North Arican universities- International institutions: UNCTAD (ONU), UNHCR, ICRC, GS1,

    In addition to its postgraduate courses, IML develops continuing educational programs which respondto the Supply Chain training needs o national and multinational companies.

    GENERAL INFORMATION

    IML,THEPERFECTINTERDISCIPLINARYANDINTERNATIONALENVIRONMENT

    The globalization o markets and the internalization o trade orce companies to adapt their researchand development as well as their production and distribution structure.This has lead companies to seeknew highly qualifed partners. IML oers a program which has a strong international character, due toa teaching body composed o a large number o proessors and proessionals rom diverse walks o lieand participants coming rom all over the world. A wide range o problems and possible solutions arecovered in theory as well as in practice.

    The academic program consists o 5 blocks with 4 weeks each (40h/week), designed to expandthe practical and methodological knowledge o the participants. These modules cover the latestdevelopments in theory, tools and best practices in supply chain management. Each module can

    be ollowed independently, which allows participants to ollow the program over more than one year.The subjects are tackled concretely by case studies presented by business proessionals, are developedrom a methodological point o view by proessors rom universities involved in the program and may becommon with those presented in France. Every course has a ormal evaluation and a qualiying examsynthesizes the material or all o the courses in the module.

    In addition to the 20 weeks (5 blocks), 2 weeks business games oriented are organized (W1, W2).These business games are Web-based simulations and players within a team use the Internet tocollaborate, to reach decisions, to implement these decisions and to examine the results obtained.Some o the games are designed to develop a better understanding o undamental supply chainconcepts such as the Bullwhip eect and Risk pooling, but others are competitive games involvingmulti-enterprise strategic and tactical business decisions. Finally, the last week will be dedicated tothe internship tutorial.

    The courses are taught in English in Lausanne at the Ecole Polytechnique Fdrale de Lausanneand principally in French in Paris at the cole des Ponts ParisTech/AFT.IFTIM.

    To maintain its position as one o the best European Masters in Logistics and Supply Chain Management,IML invests heavily in research in close collaboration with a cluster o European universities andinternational companies, as well as large organizations acting in a broad spectrum o proessionaldomains: high-tech, biotech, ood, supply chain, services, sustainable and airtrade development.

    TEACHING

    The program is :- organized by academic and proessional experts, under the control o an internationalpedagogical committee.- run by highly qualifed proessionals active in education, consulting and management.

    TARGETGROUP

    The executive master program is open to participants holding a master degree in science, engineering,architecture, economics and management, or an equivalent university degree.

    The continuing education program can be attended by scientists and proessionals rom academiesas well as industries, service organizations and public administrations. Each module can be attendedindependently by participants with proven work experience.

    HIGHLIGHTS

    - The curriculum is based on an interdisciplinary approach, aimed specifcally at the integrationo technology and management.- The program has a strong international character, which is given by proessors and expertsin worldwide organizations.- The teaching methods include theoretical approach and case studies.- The curriculum integrates all o the challenges the logistician aces during his/her proessional activities.

    - Each module can be attended independently and is evaluated by a credit system which allowsparticipants to ollow the course over more than one session.- The practical work can be realized in parallel with a proessional activity.- The program is organized in Lausanne and Paris. It is thus possible to be registered at one locationbut attend the various modules according to dates and availability at either location.

    THEORY

    The theoretical program consists o 20 modules o 40 hours each, plus 3 weeks o case studiesdesigned to enlarge the practical and methodological knowledge o the participants.

    These modules cover the latest development in theory, tools and best practice in management andLogistics. The subjects are tackled concretely by case studies presented by business proessionalsand are developed rom a methodological point o view by proessors rom universities involved inthe program.

    PRACTICE

    Once the theoretical part is successully accomplished, students must perorm a practical project withina company.

    This project should be completed successully over a minimum duration o 20 weeks. It gives studentsadditional work experience and is also a prerequisite or obtaining the Executive Master.

    The project goal is to carry out a practical study or research demonstrating high scientifc capabilities,engineering knowledge and managerial skills. The project is operational and strategically oriented.

    The practical project is supervised by academic sta. It is completed within a company or at oneo the research units o the organizing academic partners.

    The project is evaluated upon proessional and academic value.
