Thibault started playing guitar at the age of 7 and completed his degrees in Classical guitar, Music Theory, MusicHistory and Chamber Music (the latter at the age of 13), at the Music Conservatory of Nancy (C.N.R. de Nancy). Hethen perfected his classical guitar studies at the prestigious post-graduate Music Conservatory of Paris (ConservatoireNational Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris), taking part in Roland Dyens’ and Jean-Marc Zvellereuther’sclasses and graduating in 2001, three years after his enrollment, with highest distinction. Prior to his studies in CNSM,he was enrolled in C.N.R de la Courneuve under Alberto PONCE (France). He also participated in master classes withJourgos PANETSOS (Greece), Vladimir MIKULKA (Rép. Tchèque), Claudio MARCOTULLI (Italy), Philippe VILLA(France), Eduardo CATEMARIO (Italy), Roberto AUSSEL to name a few.His teaching career began right after, first of all at the Nancy Conservatory, where he served three years as a guitarteacher, and secondly at the Music Conservatory of Luxembourg, where he works as a classical guitar professor.Parallel to that, he is holding guitar classes at the European School in Luxembourg.His resume includes several international prizes (Italy, England, France).As a musician, he is actively involved in different projects encompassing various styles, from jazz to tango, from electroto classical music. As a composer, he is currently working on several arrangement and musical pieces.

Descriptif du cours:

J' attends les plus petits élèves à partir de cinq ans, auxquels je fais connaitre le violon en jouant (et en chantant, enfrappant les mains,...). Ensuite, j'applique l'école méthodique russe, Suzuki. Cet école est basée sur la technique et lamusicalité. Je donne aussi une introduction au solfège lors de mes cours, parce que la musique est basée sur le rythmeet sur les notes. Quant aux plus agés, je choisis en fonction de leur niveau des pièces et je joue aussi avec plaisir de lamusique de chambre avec eux.

J' ai fait mon expérience au Conservatoire Béla Bartók à Budapest et à l’Académie Musicale Musashino à Tokyo. J' aijoué pendant 13 ans sous le direction de Iván Fischer à Budapest Festival Orchestra. Actuellement je joue à l' OPL etau sein d’autres orchestres de chambre.

Karen O’Brien has been teaching violin in Luxembourg for the past 29 years. She is a graduate of Manhattan School ofMusic, NYC, and a member of the Orchestre de chamber de Luxembourg for the past 32 years. She speaks English,German and some French/Luxembourgish.

Violin instruction involves learning to read music, if not already known. She prepares students desiring ABRSM examparticipation, grades prep-Grade 8. She also prepares ABRSM theory. Instruction varies according to the student,materials range from USA based, to Suzuki, Sassmanhauser, Neuhaus, and the usual etude progressions and solopieces, including concertos. As students progress from rudimentary mastering of holding the violin and bow, playing inrhythm, in tune, position work and vibrato follows. The student will have a balance of technique and mastering solos,accompanied by piano. The piano is used during most lessons to assist in rhythm and intonation attainment.

A violin and bow of the appropriate size are needed for the lesson. A music stand at home is helpful for home practice.She can help parents find or rent a violin if needed.

Course description: The piano teaching method is student-centered. It combines elements from various methods,including the ones of Dalcroze, Kodaly, Music Awards for little Mozarts (teaching system of Mozart combined withmodern learning software). This diversified approach is intended to adapt the teaching method according to studentage, need and level. Specific methods are used for children with learning disabilities or special education needs. Youngchildren (ages 4-6 years-old) are taught to play the piano through musical activities.They improvise and develop theirsense of rhythm. Older children, along with approved methods of teaching piano, choose their favorite songs. Thesongs are taught in a manner that corresponds to individual levels. The goal is to help students improve their techniqueand listening skills. Advanced students are able to compose their own melodies and record their composition in astorage medium.
