UNE IDENTITÉARCHITECTURALEFORTE !A STRONG ARCHITECTRUAL IDENTITY!

La station de Méribel, depuis sa création, a su conserver une identité architecturale et une lecture simple des volumes au milieu d’un écrin de sapin. À la base, l’esprit du chalet de mon-tagne de Jacques Henri, « le Même », revisité par Durupt et Detour, avec des matériaux plus locaux et une ambiance moins urbaine. Pierre et bois, couverture en ardoise sont les ingré-dients de ses caractéristiques toujours utilisées sans fioritures ou arabesques.

De la modernité certes, mais toute en retenue.

Il faut distinguer Méribel station, Méribel Village, Méribel Motta-ret et les villages, car chacun a son ambiance, son identité, son atmosphère et son coeur dense et typique.

La route des Chalets dans le centre de la station est pour moi le coeur de cette ambiance typique de chalet dans les sapins, si caractéristique de Méribel. La station engendre une renommée de par son positionnement au coeur des 3 Vallées, géogra-phique mais aussi sociale, avec une clientèle haut de gamme discrète qui permet une réhabilitation et construction de quali-té qui fait que l’on aime se retrouver et accueillir chez soi.À Meribel, on ne sort pas, on se reçoit.

Since its creation, the resort of Méribel has managed to conserve its architectural identity of simple volumes set against a backdrop of pine trees.Méribel’s architecture was inspired by architect Jacques Henri’s chaletstyle, refined by architects Durupt and Detour using more local materials with a less urban feel. Its characteristic ingredients are stone and wood, topped with slate, used without flourishes or over-ornate de-tailing. There is modernity too, for sure, but used with restraint.

It is necessary to distinguish between Méribel resort, Méribel Village, Mottaret and the villages, as each has its own ambiance, identity, atmos-phere and its own individual heart. For me, la Route des Chalets in the centre of the resort is the heart of this typical chalet ambiance amongst pine trees, so typical of Méribel.

The resort has become renowned thanks to its position in the heart of les 3 Vallées and also its social side, with its discrete, up-market clientele. This results in high quality construction and restorations, which mean you love to spend time with your friends at home.

In Méribel, you tend not to go out, you entertain at home.

Ils ont pour nom Les Allues, Le Raffort, le Cruet, Vanthier, Chandon, Nantgerel, la Gittaz et Plantin. Ce sont ces petits villages qui sont à l’origine de tout. En effet, ce sont eux et notamment le village des Allues qui ont inspiré en 1936 l’écossais Peter Lindsay, à la recherche d’un nouveau site de loisirs d’hiver. Aujourd’hui, ces villages au charme fou sont de petits bijoux d’architecture traditionnelle de montagne que l’on traverse avant d’arriver dans les « quartiers » plus récents de Méribel.

Ils sont également autant de camps de base précieux pour amoureux d’authenticité, de calme, de culture, de douces balades et de grand ski… La télécabine de l’Olympe assure l’accès en quelques minutes à la Chaudanne et au plus grand domaine skiable du monde. Le soir tombant, c’est par cette même télécabine ou ski aux pieds que l’on redes-cend pour retrouver l’apaisante atmosphère de son chalet et la quiétude de son village marqué du sceau inimitable « Méribel Les Allues ».

Les Allues, Le Raffort, les Cruet, Vanthier, Chandon, Nant-gerel, la Gittaz and Plantin.These hamlets were the origins of the resort. They first inspired a Scotsman, Peter Lindsay in 1936, looking to develop a site for winter sports and re-creation. Today, each of these charming villages is a small gem of traditional alpine architecture. One systematical-ly passes through them before reaching the more recent quarters of Méribel.

These villages are valuable base camps for amateurs of au-thenticity, calm, culture. Gentle walking and great skiing. The Olympe gondola provides access to the Chaudanne and the largest ski area in the world in just a few minutes. At the end of the day, ride the gondola back down to the village or ski straight back to the peace of your chalet.

Méribel Village est le dernier né des joyaux de Méribel Val-lée. Jusque dans les années 90, le site ne comptait que quelques bergeries dispersées. Il est depuis devenu l’écrin d’un adorable hameau dans la plus pure tradition savoyarde, avec ses chalets et granges réaménagées, sa chapelle, son four à pain, ses commerces, ses terrasses.

Organisé autour de sa place centrale très agréable et dé-licieusement ensoleillée, Méribel Village est desservi par le télésiège du Golf qui donne accès à l’ensemble du do-maine skiable de Méribel et des 3 Vallées. Quand la journée s’achève, c’est skis aux pieds que l’on regagne tranquille-ment le coeur du village par la piste bleue du Lapin. Le soir, la navette gratuite conduit en quelques minutes les ama-teurs de prolongations nocturnes à Méribel Centre, coeur qui bat au rythme des « Méribel soirées ».

Méribel Village is the most recent addition to the Méri-bel Valley. In the early 1990s, the site was scattered with sheepfolds. It has since become the setting for a lovely hamlet, designed in the purest Savoyard tradition, with its chalets and barn renovations, its chapel, its bread oven, shops and terraces. Built around its delightfully sunny square, Méribel Village is linked to the Méribel ski area and the 3 Valleys via a chairlift, the “Télésiège du Golf”. Ski back to the village at the end of the day along the blue slope “Le Lapin”. In the evening, a free shuttle bus service takes par-tygoers to Méribel centre in just a few minutes.

MÉRIBEL LES ALLUES MÉRIBEL VILLAGE

Coeur géographique, poumon des animations mais aussi colonne vertébrale des services de la vallée, Méribel Centre est le point de rendez-vous de ceux qui aiment tout avoir à portée de main, de jour comme de nuit : office de tou-risme, cinéma, piscine, espace bien être, boutiques, bars, restaurants, discothèques… S’échelonnant de 1500 à 1600 m, Méribel Centre regroupe plusieurs quartiers au charme singulier : Le Plateau, La Renarde, Altitude 1600, Mussillon.

Tous ont en commun la majesté des bâtiments et chalets faits de bois, de pierre et d’ardoise de Savoie. Sur sa partie la plus basse et à deux pas de l’hyper centre, se situe le quartier de « La Chaudanne » et son célèbre Parc Olym-pique. Il est le lieu d’accueil des grands événements sportifs et festifs de la vallée.

The geographical heart of resort, the centre of entertain-ment and the spine of Valley services, Méribel Centre has everything to hand: tourist office, cinema, swimming pool, spa, shops, bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Ranging from 1500m to 1600 m altitude, Méribel Centre is composed of several charming hamlets: le Plateau, La Renarde, Altitude 1600, Mussillon.

The architecture in Méribel centre is and its different hamlets is uniform. Buildings and chalets are clad in wood, stone and local slate. In the lower part of the village, just steps away from the centre, is the disrict «la Chaudanne» and its famous Olympic sports complex, the venue for ma-jor sporting events and festive entertainment.

Située à 1600 m sur un site exceptionnel surplombant le centre de la station, l’altiport de Méribel fut en 1961, la pre-mière piste d’aviation d’altitude créée dans une station de sports d’hiver en France.

Aujourd’hui, il est l’emblème de Méribel les Hauts, quar-tier très prisé par les amateurs de calme, de nature et de vues panoramiques. Niché au pied des pistes l’hiver, il se transforme en l’un des plus beaux golfs de montagne l’été. S’étirant du « Rond-Point » au Belvédère et au très sélect domaine de Burgin, Méribel les Hauts séduit par son en-vironnement très privilégié au milieu des sapins et par la beauté de son architecture de pierre et de bois.
