Richard Boprae, fondateur du Studio Boprae, est un artiste canadien-français qui vit et tra-vaille à Denver. Né à montréal en 1971, Boprae, qui se décrit comme ‘’nomade’, dit de son art qu’il est alimenté par sa passion pour le voyage et la découverte de nouvelles cultures. Ayant vécu au Japon et pour avoir beaucoup voyagé en Europe et en Amérique centrale, Boprae trouve souvent son inspiration dans les éléments naturels, et l’héritage de l’art tra-ditionnel. Les textures riches qu’il a rencontrées dans les espaces sacrés à travers le monde lui servent souvent de toile de fond pour ses dessins.

Le travail de Boprae se compose de formes sculptées de motifs répétitifs conçus dans le ciment et appliqués sur du bois sculpté, des panneaux de bois et ou de la toile. Il utilise cette base de ci-ment pour créer une texture ma-tiérée qui est ensuite enduite de couleur. L’aspect tridimensionnel

du résultat final de l’oeuvre ap-proche son art de la famille de la sculpture. En suivant ses ins-tincts et de l’évolution naturelle de son travail, Boprae créé de différents panneaux décoratifs et peintures murales qui peuvent être facilement intégrés dans des constructions résidentielles et commerciales modernes.

« Pour moi, les sources d’inspira-tion sont toujours abondantes. Je suis sans cesse à la recherche de nouvelles découvertes créatives et culturelles, inspirées par l’héri-tage de ceux qui ont vécu avant moi. Chaque culture, chaque paysage, chaque religion, chaque ville, et chaque tradition suscite mon imagination et mes créa-tions sont le résultat de la fusion entre ces inspirations et une har-monisation, une élégance visuelle qui correspond à un temps don-né et à un environnement.»

Richard Boprae, founder of Bo-prae Studio, is a French Cana-dian artist living and working in Denver. Born in montreal in 1971, Boprae, a self-described ‘’nomad,’’creates art fueled by his passion for travel and the exploration of new cultures. Ha-ving lived in Japan and traveled extensively throughout Europe and Central America, Boprae of-ten finds inspiration in the natural elements, and the legacy of tra-ditional art. The rich textures that he has encountered in sacred spaces throughout the world of-ten serve as the backdrop for his opulent designs.

Boprae’s unique self-taught style consists of sculptured forms of repetitive patterns crafted in cement and applied to carved wood, wood panels, and can-vas. He uses this cement base to create a high-relief texture, which is later coated in color. The three-dimensional aspect of the work’s final result brings his art closer

to the family of sculpture. By fol-lowing his instincts and the natu-ral evolution of his work, Boprae creates distinctive decorative panels and murals that can be easily incorporated into modern residential and commercial appli-cations.
