did. God was pleased with him andhis gift. Abel is dead now, but because he believed God, he stillspeaks to us through his faith.

seen.Because Abraham had faith, helived as a stranger in the promisedland. He lived there in a tent, and sodid Isaac and Jacob, who were latergiven the same promise.

sacrifice Isaac, because he was surethat God could raise people to life.This was just like getting Isaac backfrom death.

  Isaac had faith, and hepromised blessings to Jacob andEsau.

Later, when Jacob was about todie, he leaned on his walkingstick and worshiped. Then because of his faith he blessedeach of Joseph’s sons. 

Fu anche per fede che Isacco benedisse Giacobbe ed Esaù [isuoi figli] riguardo a cose future.

Per fede Giacobbe,

moribondo, benedisse ciascunodei figli di Giuseppe e,appoggiato al suo bastone,adoro il Signore.

time that living a wrong life could bringfor a little while.

Moses knew that the treasures ofEgypt were not as wonderful as what hewould receive from God, and he lookedforward to his reward.

Fu per fede che Mosè, da adulto,rifiuto di essere riconosciuto come nipotedel faraone. Egli preferì essere

maltrattato insieme con il popolo di Dio,piuttosto che godersi momentaneamenteuna vita peccaminosa.

Per Mosè soffrire per Cristo, valevapiù dei tesori d'Egitto, perché aspettavala ricompensa [che Dio gli avrebbe dato].

Because of their faith, the people

walked through the Red Sea on dryland. But when the Egyptians tried todo it, they were drowned.

  What else can I say? There isn’tenough time to tell about Gideon,Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David,Samuel, and the prophets. Their faithhelped them conquer kingdoms, and because they did right, God madepromises to them. They closed the jaws of lions and put out raging firesand escaped from the swords of theirenemies. Although they were weak,they were given the strength andpower to chase foreign armies away.

All of them pleased God because oftheir faith!

Ebbene, che devo dire di più? Civorrebbe troppo tempo, se volessi parlarvidella fede di Gedeone, di Barak, diSansone, di Iefte, di Davide, di Samuele edei profeti; per fede conquistarono regni,governarono con giustizia, videroavverarsi le promesse di Dio, chiusero le bocche dei leoni, spensero la violenza delfuoco e sfuggirono alla lama delle spade.Altri ancora furono fortificati nel momentodella debolezza, diventarono valorosi inguerra e misero in fuga eserciti stranieri.

Tutti questi furono approvati da Dioper la loro fede.

We are surrounded by a greatcloud of witnesses! Let us run withpatience the race that is set before

us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, wholeads us and makes our faithcomplete.

Anche noi dunque, essendocircondati da un cosí gran numerodi testimoni, corriamo conperseveranza la gara che ci è postadavanti, tenendo gli occhi su Gesú,autore e compitore della nostra

fede.
