AgendaParallèlement à l’essor du mouvement maker, de plus en plus de bibliothèques publiques partout dans le monde adoptent l’approche de l’apprentissage en réseau afin de renforcer le rôle qu’elles jouent déjà comme pivot central de l’apprentissage tout au long de la vie. Des exemples en Amérique du Nord et en Europe montrent des bibliothèques qui s’allient à des partenaire du milieu scolaire ainsi que des secteur public et privé afin de développer des initiatives novatrices qui répondent aux besoins de tous les individus, peu importe où ils se trouvent par rapport à la fracture numérique. Finalement, la présentation se terminera sur quelques idées pratiques pour permettre aux bibliothécaires et aux gestionnaires de mettre leur bibliothéque davantage « en réseau ».
Le mouvement pour l’apprentissage en réseau met de l’avant un type d’apprentissage issu des centres d’intérêt individuels, soutenu par les pairs et orienté par la pédagogie scolaire tout en faisant la promotion de valeurs telles que l’équité, la participation et les liens sociaux. En mettant en contact des organismes d’apprentissage formel et informel et des jeunes dans le cadre d’activités centrées sur la production, en réseau ouvert et partageant un même objectif, les jeunes profitent d’occasions d’apprentissage qui vont bien au-delà de celles offertes par le système scolaire.
En adoptant les idées et les principes de base de l’apprentissage en réseau, les bibliothèques, de concert avec les établissements scolaires et d’autres partenaires communautaires, peuvent rendre l’apprentissage plus intéressant, plus pertinent et plus inspirant pour les jeunes. La Fondation Mozilla a apporté son soutien à plusieurs « Hive Networks » - des communautés d’apprentissage collaboratif en réseau qui facilitent le dépassement des limites normalement fixées et le développement d’activités mettant de l’avant la fabrication, la création, le remixage et l’apprentissage. Par le biais d’activités issues de la cocréation telles que des soirées de fabrication/bricolage, les membres d’une communauté d’apprentissage en réseau soutiennent l’inclusion et la littératie numérique tout en favorisant le sentiment d’efficacité des participants. Le slogan « L’apprentissage par la création » résume bien cette approche. Les compétences et savoirs acquis lors d’expériences d’apprentissage en réseau peuvent de surcroit être validés et mis en commun par le biais d’un système de badges numériques qui transcendent les silos institutionnels et dressent un riche portrait des accomplissements, centres d’intérêts et caractéristiques propres à chaque apprenant.
