Alain Lefèvre est récipiendaire d’un Prix JUNO (2010), d’un Prix Opus (2011), de sept Félix (ADISQ, 2001-2010) et du Prix André Gagnon décerné par la SPACQ saluant son talent de composi-teur. philippe dunnigan, violonPhilippe Dunnigan est diplomé en violon et en musique de chambre (1er prix à l’una-nimité) du Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. Musicien curieux, il s’intéresse à plusieurs genres musicaux, ce qui l’a amené à jouer comme soliste aussi bien avec des formations symphoniques et des orchestres de chambre, que dans des groupes pop, rock ou de tango. Il a mis son talent au service des plus grands noms des scènes qué-bécoise et internationale. On a pu l’entendre comme violon solo aux côtés d’artistes aussi éclectiques que Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, José Carreras, Céline Dion, Charles Aznavour, Michel Legrand, Jean-Pierre Ferland, Ginette Reno, Rod Stewart, Yes, Diana Ross, Jimmy Page et Robert Plant, Josh Groban, Anne Murray et dans des spectacles tels Evita, Me and My Girl, ou The Phantom of the Opera. Il s’est aussi produit devant la reine Elizabeth d’Angleterre à quatre reprises, ainsi que pour la reine Beatrix de Hollande. Il a participé à plus de 200 disques en plus d’enregistrer pour la télé-vision, la publicité, le cinéma et même les jeux vidéo. Philippe Dunnigan est violon solo de l’orchestre qui accompagne Céline Dion à Las Vegas depuis mars 2011. On peut l’entendre comme violon solo sur de nombreuses trames sonores de notre cinéma québécois dont Un homme et son péché, Sans elle et Père et fils.

elvira misbakhova, altoOriginaire de Russie, Elivira Misbakhova est détentrice d’un doctorat en interpréta-tion de l’Université de Montréal. Elle a participé à des événements aussi prestigieux que le Pacific Music Festival de Sapporo et le festival Bachacademie de Stuttgart entre autres. En tant que membre de l’ensemble Klezstory dont elle est soliste, elle s’est produite au États-Unis, en Chine, au Mexique, au Brésil, en Europe et au Canada.

mariève bock, violoncelleDétentrice d’une maitrise de la Shepperd’s School of Music de l’Université Rice à Houston, Mariève Bock est une étoile montante de la scène musicale canadienne. Violoncelliste de Musica Camerata Montréal (en résidence au Segal Arts Center) et de la Société de musique de chambre de Québec, ses récitals et concerts sont diffusés dans tout le pays sur les ondes de Radio-Canada et de la CBC. Elle joue également dans les séries de Syrinx Sunday Salons à Toronto, Capital City Concerts au Vermont (États-Unis) et Redshift Music Society à Vancouver. Elle a eu le privilège d’être invitée par l’Orchestre symphonique d’Hiroshima dans le cadre des commémorations du 60e anniversaire de la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

philippe dunnigan, violinPhilippe Dunnigan graduated with a unanimous First Prize degree in violin and chamber music from the Montreal Conservatory of Music. An inquisitive musician, he has been interested in numerous musical genres, which has led him to play as a soloist with symphony and chamber orchestras, as well as pop, rock and tango bands. He has shared his talent with the greatest names on the Quebec and the interna-tional scenes. He has been heard as solo violin alongside artists as eclectic as Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, José Carreras, Céline Dion, Charles Aznavour, Michel Legrand, Jean-Pierre Ferland, Ginette Reno, Rod Stewart, Yes, Diana Ross, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, Josh Groban, Anne Murray and in shows such as Evita, Me and My Girl and The Phantom of the Opera. He has also performed four times for Queen Elizabeth, and for Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. He has participated in more than 200 al-bums, in addition to recordings for television, advertising, film and even video games. Philippe Dunnigan is solo violin with the orchestra that has been accompanying Céline Dion in Las Vegas since March 2011. He formed his string quartet with some of the best string instrumentalists in Quebec.

Known for his rich and vibrant sound, he devotes himself to a large variety of projects and artistic collaborations, in the studio and on the stage. He can be heard as solo violin on the soundtrack of many Quebec films, including Un homme et son péché (A Man and His Sin), Sans elle (Without Her), and Père et fils (Father and Sons).

elvira misbakhova, violaOf Russian origin, Elivira Misbakhova holds a PhD in performance from the University of Montreal. She has participated in events as prestigious as the Pacific Music Festival Sapporo and the Bachakademie Stuttgart Festival, among others. As a member of the Klezstory Ensemble, where she is a soloist, she has performed in the United States, China, Mexico, Brazil, Europe and Canada.

mariève bock, celloWith a Master’s from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in Houston, Mariève Bock is a rising star on the Canadian musical scene. She is the cellist of Musica Camerata Montreal (in residence at the Segal Centre for Performing Arts) and the Quebec City Chamber Music Society, and her recitals have been broadcast throughout the country on Radio-Canada and CBC. She also plays in the music series of Syrinx Sunday Salons in Toronto, Capital City Concerts in Vermont (United States) and the Redshift Music Society in Vancouver. She has had the privilege of being invited by the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, as part of the sixtieth anniversary commemorations of the end of the Second World War.

L’idée de vous offrir ce Petit Noël n’est pas fortuite et s’inscrit tout naturellement dans le prolongement de l’émission spéciale que j’anime en direct, la veille de Noël, sur les ondes d’Espace Musique et de la Première Chaîne de Radio-Canada, en marge de ma carrière de pianiste concertiste. En effet, depuis maintenant huit ans, je partage le 24 décembre au micro et au piano avec tous ceux qui se retrouvent réunis dans la solitude ou le rassemblement, dans l’euphorie ou la nostalgie, afin de vivre ensemble ces quelques heures avant le coup de minuit,

dans une ambiance feutrée et festive, celle d’un bonheur possible, à l’écoute des plus belles mélodies du temps des Fêtes.

C’est avec grand plaisir que j’ai retrouvé à l’occasion de cet enregistrement, le vio-loniste Philippe Dunnigan avec qui j’avais collaboré sur le projet de Montréal Jazz Club Session 3, lequel a d’emblée accepté de se joindre à moi avec son quatuor, afin de vous concocter ce Petit Noël, intimiste, enregistré dans la tranquillité de l’Église Saint-Benoît de Mirabel.

J’ai également fait de nouveau appel à Richard Savignac pour l’arrangement des pièces, lequel s’était fait remarquer par la critique pour les arrangements de certaines de mes compositions interpré-tées par le Pacific Symphony Orchestra au Renée et Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall en Californie et par l’Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, à la Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier de la Place des Arts.

Petit Noël c’est aussi le titre de l’une des pièces que j’ai composée et que vous retrouverez ici avec deux nouvelles com-positions, soit Noël en traineau et Première

neige à Kamouraska. Certains « classiques » viennent compléter le choix musical, ainsi que la pièce Un Canadien errant. Cette dernière est à la mémoire de mon beau-papa et grand ami, Louis Martineau, qui l’affectionnait tout particulière-ment et qui à ma grande tristesse, s’est éteint dans la matinée du 24 décembre dernier… Elle s’adresse aussi à toutes les âmes seules pour qui cette période de l’année est synonyme d’épreuve, ainsi qu’à tous ceux qui retenus à l’étranger, ne peuvent rejoindre famille, amis et aimés pour les célébrations des Fêtes.

The idea of offering you this Petit Noël (Little Christmas) is not fortuitous. It fol-lows naturally from the special Christmas Eve broadcast that I present live on Espace Musique and the Première Chaîne of Radio-Canada, alongside my career as a concert pianist. As a matter of fact, for eight years now, as a host and at the piano, I have been sharing December 24 with all the people who, in solitude or reunited, joyful or nostalgic, join together to experience these few hours before the stroke of midnight in a cozy and festive

atmosphere suggestive of possible happi-ness, as they listen to the most beautiful songs of the holiday season.

It was with great pleasure that for this recording I again met up with the violin-ist Philippe Dunnigan, with whom I had worked on the Montreal Jazz Club Session 3 project. He immediately accepted the invitation to join me with his quartet so that we could prepare this intimate Petit Noël, recorded in the peacefulness of Saint-Benoît de Mirabel Church.

I also called on Richard Savignac, once again, for the arrangement of the pieces. He was praised by the critics for his arrangements of some of my composi-tions, which were played by the Pacific Symphony Orchestra at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall in California and by the Orchestre sympho-nique de Montréal, in the Salle Wilfrid-Pelletier Hall at Place des Arts.

Petit Noël is also the title of one of the pieces that I composed and that you will find here, with two new works, Noël en traineau (Sleigh Ride) and Première

neige à Kamouraska (First Snow in Kamouraska). Certain “classics” complete the musical selections, along with the work Un Canadien errant (A Wandering Canadian). The latter is in memory of my father-in-law and great friend, Louis Martineau, who particularly liked it, and who, much to my sadness, passed away last December 24, in the morning. It is addressed to all the lonely individuals for whom this period of the year is synony-mous with hardship, as well as to all those abroad who cannot join their families, friends and loved ones for the holiday celebrations.
