MANUEL D'UTILISATION ET D'ENTRETIEN
Table d'indexage à mouvement intermittent de taille
TSa 700 – 920 et 1100
2

Principle of functioning
The TS index table is a simple and robust device that transforms an uniform rotation into an intermittent movement smoothly and without noise.
It provides :
- A precise angular displacement controlled by an appropriate movement characteristic (acceleration and deceleration curves),
- Positive locking of positions realized.
Angular movement perfectly controlled.
There are 2 working parts in the unit :
- a barrel cam connected to the input shaft,
- Followers housed axially on a turret fixed to the output shaft.
The barrel cam is composed of 2 characteristic zones :
- The active zone : its profile moves 1 or more followers to produce an accelerating angular movement followed by a deceleration of the output shaft. Its characteristic is optimized for each unit.
- The locked zone : its profile ensures the locking of the position realized. Positive positioning in the locked zone. In this zone two followers are located on either side of the rectangular section thread; there is no
possibility of movement for the table's output plate.

Machine commissioning
PRODUCT OVERVIEW Most of indexing machines run on a step by step running principle. In this configuration, stoppage time is variable and independent from the rotation time. For a step by step actuation, we choose the widest indexing angle to reach the lowest pressure
angle. The angle of cam stoppage (dwell) located inside the indexing unit is directly linked to the braking time of the motor – brake unit or of the cluth – brake unit.
The motor stoppage is triggered by a control cam located outside the indexing unit which
actuates an end stroke signal or a sensor as the output shaft of the table is in a dwell phase (cam followers in the locking area "dwell" of the cam.
BE CAREFUL : Always control motor stoppage by a hardware solution.
SET UP Turn the input shaft until the mounting holes of the output shaft are in the axis of the indexing
table. The same principle applies to the keyway on the output shaft. Before counter drilling the output table, arm or other parts on the output shaft, make sure that
table, handler or indexing drive is set up in its dwell period, that the stationary coloured arrow is facing the coloured sector.
IMPERATIVE : Never control the Brake motor stoppage by an end of stroke sensor located at the indexing table output (output shaft area). In any case, the only stoppage control has to be driven by the end of stroke sensor located on the input shaft (fig. 3).
fig 3
19
Our devices are delivered with non set up control cams. These must be located and if necessary adjusted by the customer depending on the response time required by the application ( voir fig. 4). For final set up of the control cam, the indexing drive must be rotating until it is stopped by the end of stroke sensor. Next this operation, if the coloured arrow is not facing the coloured area, turn slightly the control cam and redo the operation until the coloured arrow is located in the middle of the coloured area.
Caution : Before motor start up, make sure that no one and no tooling is in the dangerous area.
FINAL CHECK The masses and their distance to the rotating centre in comparison with the indicated values in
our calculation sheet which was created for product design. Check : - Actuation of the end of stroke sensor, - Electric wiring - Running of the brake motor and of the brake clutch.

Compact visu system
This system is used to stop the motor. The compact display system is composed of several elements located on the Photography below, namely:
Principle
The driving arresting cam (4) and the disc of visualization (3) turn at the same time as the shaft of entry of the table of indexing. When the driving arresting cam (4) master key in front of the detector (5), this one must control the shutdown brake.
Adjustment
The driving arresting cam (4) must be regulated so that the medium of the colored zone (2) of the disc of visualization (3) is opposite the fixed reference mark (1) when the system is stopped. Knowing that the color of the reference mark fixes (1) the color of the disc of visualization determines (3) which must be taken into account. There are 4 colors possible:
- If the reference mark fixes (1) is blue, the colored zone of the disc made 30° - If the reference mark fixes (1) is red, the colored zone of the disc made 45° - If the reference mark fixes (1) is green, the colored zone of the disc made 60° - If the reference mark fixes (1) is ochre, the colored zone of the disc made 90°

Switch device
- How motor should be controlled (direct, frequency inverter) ? I attached some pages from technical manual of brake motor I proposed to you. Yes, you can drive in direct. When the black cam will be in front of switch, that’s power cut.
We don’t like control through PLC because sometimes we lost time. In your case, it is not a big problem because your transfer time is not so fast.
But prefer drive in direct.
- How to check the position of the table ? In our quotation, I proposed simple device command. This system is composed by 1 black cam to stop motor in dwell period of table and 1 red cam to control dwell period.
1°) Motor stop 2°) Dwell control
Of course with this system, you cannot control if you are at 0° or 180°. In this case, we have a more complete device command composed by 1 black cam to stop motor at 0°, 1 black cam to stop motor at 180° and 1 red cam to control dwell period. In this case, cams turn only 180° CW and CCW (we install a small reducer ratio 1/2)
Of course with this system, you can not control “OVERTRAVEL” at 0° or 180°.
In this case, we have also a more complete device command composed by 1 black cam to stop motor at 0°, 1 black cam to stop motor at 180°, 1 black cam to control overtravel at 0°, 1 black cam to control overtravel at 180°, and 1 red cam to control dwell period. In this case, cams turn only 180° CW and CCW (we install a small reducer ratio 1/2)
