写真3南側から見たK-B火口と洞爺湖温泉街．火口の径は，およそ100 m．火口底には小さな火砕丘が生じており，数秒に一度程度の 頻度で咳込むように土砂や岩塊を吹き上げていた．撮影者の足元にも同様の礫が多数落下した形跡があった．
