• 1873 : H. N. Morse synthétise pour la première fois la molécule via la réduction du p-nitrophénol avec de l’étain dans un milieu d ’acide acétique.
• 1946, New York : Brodie et Axelrod relient l’action analgésique de l’acétanilide et de la phénacétine au paracétamol, leur métabolite actif, retrouvé dans les urines : analgésique, anti-pyrétique, mais pas anti-inflammatoire.
• 1955 : commercialisation aux U.S.A du paracétamol.Actuellement :
• Un des 5 médicaments les plus vendus au monde.• Premier palier de l’analgésie multimodale.• L’analgésique et l’antipyrétique le plus fréquemment prescrit chez les enfants.
