As in previous years, the 2017 Road Building Academy offers variety in both content and delivery format. Attendance at classroom courses facilitates direct peer-to-peer learning and networking.

With our amalgamation, we have incorporated courses suitable to all our membership categories, including Contractors, Hot Mix Producers, AC Suppliers and Associate Members.

As always, we cannot do what we do without the dedication and support from our education committee. I’d like to thank our education committee member volunteers for their time and support in helping us deliver a program that will support your businesses.

What is new this year? ORBA conducted a member Focus Group to help us identify the best types of courses to offer as new components to the Academy. Not only have we expanded our course offerings, we have upgraded our venue to the prestigious BMO Institute for Learning which includes state of the art classrooms, food hubs and a buffet lunch to suit every palate.

We will also be launching the compulsory Construction Ethics course through Buildforce as our first online course offering.

or over 40 years, Sandy Brown has worked as a consultant in geotechnical and materials engineering, 24 years of which were with Golder Associates Ltd. At the end of 2005, Sandy started in a shared position as Technical Director for the Ontario Hot Mix Producers Association. In his roles with OHMPA and Canadian Regional Engineer for the Asphalt Institute, Sandy offers expert advice to the paving industry and owners across Canada and US.

For the first time in 2017, ORBA will be hosting the Road Building Academy at the BMO Institute for Learning in Toronto.

This learning facility offers inspiring spaces where teams can collaborate and share their thoughts. The facility was designed to be filled with natural light filling to open the minds of attendees.

Everything you need is in one space. The venue boasts all day Nourishment Hubs stocked with healthy and energizing foods, a full lunch buffet as well as various dinner options (not included in Academy pricing) that guarantees you will leave the facility satisfied.
