Dear Parishioners:
Trinity Sunday, 2016. The faith of all Christians rests
on the Trinity. This mystery of the most Holy Trinity is the
central mystery of Christian faith and life, the mystery of God
Himself. The Trinity is the most fundamental and essential of
all the truths of faith. The one true God, Father-Son-Holy
Spirit, reveals Himself to us, reconciles us, saves us and unites
us.
Praise to the Holy Trinity: Father Creator, Son
Redeemer, Spirit Sanctifier. Glory and praise forever.
† † † † † † † † † † † † †
We’re blessed with a fine parish staff and our Faith
Formation Team - Ed Karpinski, Jackie Alworth, Sr. Alice -
and all our catechists and aides, have given yeoman service
this year. Our six celebrations of First Holy Communion were
beautifully reverent and joy-filled. Our six adult
Confirmations on Pentecost were a beautiful witness. Our
Confirmation Ritual, accepting our youth for the sacrament,
was impressive.
Prayerful congratulations to all who received or are
preparing to receive a new intimacy with Christ and
Community. Special kudos to all who prepared them so well.

Juan Ortega Ortiz has served here at St. Aloysius as a
seminarian last summer and at holiday times during this last
year. I am pleased to announce his ordination to the order of
Deacon today at the Cathedral Basilica.
At the 5 pm Spanish Mass today, Rev. Mr. Ortega
Ortiz will exercise his Order as Deacon of the Word &
Eucharist. He will be the homilist. All are welcome. A
reception will follow Mass in the Auditorium. Ad multos
annos.
† † † † † † † † † † † † †
The Society of the African Missions has been
generous in sharing their young African priests with us this
month. I am very grateful to them. They all have a wonderful
generous apostolic spirit. The SMA fathers will be with us
until mid June.
† † † † † † † † † † † † †
Please share the info on Msgr. Michael Kelly’s 50th
anniversary as a priest AND 50 years as the weekend assistant
at St. Aloysius with former parishioners who have moved
away. Father Mike never looks for praise or thanks and that’s
all the more reason we are happy to honor him. Remember:
12 noon Mass, June 5th with a reception to follow in the
auditorium.
† † † † † † † † † † † † †
I hope everyone in the parish will realize the
importance of the We Are Living Stones campaign for our
own parish. Please make your pledge as soon as possible.
Thanks to all who have already done so.
Sincerely in Christ,
Msgr. Desmond

St. Aloysius Parish Mission Statement
St. Aloysius Parish is a Roman Catholic community
dedicated to celebrating the life and word of Jesus
Christ. All are welcome to deepen their spiritual and
personal lives through active participation in weekly
Liturgy, the celebration of the Sacraments, Parish
ministries and community activities. Acknowledging
our incompleteness and our need for God’s grace, we
commit ourselves, through Baptism, to responding to
God’s call to become and grow as disciples of Jesus
Christ in our time. Jesus Christ is at the center of all
of our lives.
