Entry to the International Section

Two compulsory procedures

- A series of English tests torank pupils out of 250 marks

- A report grid completed bythe French class teacher andthe English teacher. 50 marksare available to quantify suchaspects as effort,concentration, organisationalskills, participation in class andmotivation.

English assessment

- All CM2 pupils wishing toapply for the InternationalSection will sit tests at ourSouth Kensington site onSaturday 14th March 2020from 9am – 12pm.

- These are B1/B2 level tests.There will be a listeningcomprehension, a readingcomprehension and two shortwriting tasks.

CM2 End of Primary English Assessment

Written tests

- ALL CM2 pupils will take these tests.

- They will be held between Tuesday 21st and Thursday 23rd April in the pupils’ own schools.

- Pupils will either take the A1/A2 beginner / lower intermediate level or the B1/B2 advanced / fluent level.

- Reading aloud and oral interaction are assessed continuously by the class teacher.

Additional information on the B1/B2 level tests

The information below applies to both the International Section tests and the Endof Primary CM2 tests:

• The reading comprehension is composed of three parts: information retrieval,inference and vocabulary.

• The writing paper is based on writing styles that have been studied in CM2.

• The tests have been designed to give a snapshot of a pupil’s NATURAL ABILITYin English. This is vital so that we will be confident that a pupil will cope well inthe group into which he/she is placed.

• Schools will be sent mock tests in January so pupils know what to expect in thespring. There are no further practise papers available.

Passerelle 3ème/2nde

• Students can elect to leave the International Section at theend of 3eme.

• Students from SP can apply to enter the SI: they can do theIGCSE in English Language. Some may also take the IGCSE inEnglish Literature depending on their ability to catch up onthe 3ème SI programme.

Le Lycée

La 2nde générale

- Possibilité de suivre l’OIB (optioninternationale du baccalauréat, surdemande pour les élèves qui viennentde la section internationale, sur testpour les autres)- Même choix linguistiques qu’aucollège (attention, toutes les languessont en continuation : pas de grandsdébutants en classe de seconde)- IGCSE Language / Literature- Theseare compulsory for all SI students andcomprise 4 written exams and 1 oralexam in May of 2nde. It is a 2-yearcourse and students start to prepare in3ème.

A partir de la classe de 1ère

- Réforme du Bac

- Possibilité de passerelle de la secondegénérale vers la section britannique (Alevels), sur conditions (B minimum auIGCSE d’anglais + test)

- OIB English and H/G : part of the« tronc commun » of subjects but with ahigher coefficient (worth almost asmuch as the « spécialité » subjects
