Please limit your response to each of the following questions to about 75 words but be specific.
1. Have you ever been convicted of a crime, been disciplined by a professional licensingboard/organization or had an ethics violation filed against you? If so, please give the
details.
No
2. Have you ever filed for bankruptcy, been delinquent on your taxes or other majoraccounts, or been sued personally or professionally? If so, please give the details. We had a series of disputes over water rights with a nearby property owner.
3. Why should people vote for you? What separates you from your opponent(s)?I am a farmer and small business owner who understands the challenges facing Oregon
right now. We need leaders who understand what it takes to create jobs and work within
a budget. My opponent has been in office for seven years and must share in theresponsibility for the sad state of Oregons affairs. As State Representative, I will support
pro-jobs legislation and I will standup for our small business community. My opponent
worked as a public sector administrator and signs the back the check, I work to createlocal jobs and sign the front. My opponent has supported a sales tax, early release ofviolent criminals and the largest tax increase in Oregons history. She continues to ask
Oregonians to pay more all the while revisions to PERS is left off the table. Two
Governors and the current State Treasurer, all Democrats, recognize the impending
financial disaster. Instead of making hard working families pay more to solve our budgetproblems I believe we need to build jobs and grow Oregons revenue base.
4. What are the three most important issues you would address if elected? How? (75 words for eachissue)
A. Jobs. I will propose common sense pro-jobs legislation that will allow local businesses to docreate new jobs and hire new employees. I will work with the local business community to
support an environment that allows employers to grow their businesses. I will remove theunnecessary barriers that drive businesses out of Oregon.

B. Education Reform. Parents and students need choices within our public school system. I willalways advocate for allowing education competition in our state. It is time to focus on thestudents who are trapped in a system that frowns upon giving them options.
C. Public Safety. We all live, work and raise our families here. We need to make sure that ourneighborhoods are safe from criminals. My opponent voted to give violent sex offendersearly release. This was the wrong solution and it puts our families at risk. I will fight to
defend our families and will focus on keeping our communities safe while considering
options to save money.
4. What do you see as other important issues?PERS Reform is as important as the above three and was discussed above. A stable water
policy is another issue that has waited in the wings too long. Whether global warming is afact and regardless of cause, we are overdue for a plan to supply agriculture and citizens
with sensible environmental initiatives, starting with a plan for water. As a farmer I have
worked in the natural resources and agriculture sector for many years and it is time forOregon to look at responsibly utilizing our natural resources. We need to reduce the redtape that is stifling potential prosperity. We need to support agendas that will benefit the
local communities. We can enjoy the natural beauty of our natural resources, use them,
and still preserve opportunity and beauty for the future. Oregon is ripe for creative,
business sector Green Job initiatives and would provide desperately needed home grownjobs.
6. How would you describe your political style or for judicial candidates, your judicialtemperament?
I am solution oriented. I am conservative, however we will have a partisan Governor and mayhave a closely divided House and or Senate. That means to pass anything we have to look forcommon ground. We dont need to sacrifice values or principles, but we do have to be open to
discussions that advance good government. Ive been a farmer my whole life and Ive always
been a hard worker. I would bring a hard work ethic and common sense to the table.
7. If you are an incumbent, what have you achieved during your current term? If you are not an
incumbent, how have you prepared yourself for this position?
My work in our business requires regular recalibration to match resources, opportunities and
expenses. I have worked with complex budgets for more than thirty years and grown mybusiness nearly every year. My prior responsibilities in working on behalf of the farming and
nursery community and volunteering on campaigns for other candidates have been valuabletraining grounds.
8. What is the largest budget you have handled, and in what capacity?
I served as Treasurer for the Oregon Association of Nurseries when it first crossed the one
million dollar mark and our wholesale nursery has a gross budget of between one and twomillion dollars.
