It is Sunnah to perform the major bath on four occasions:

1) Friday prayer

2) Both Eid prayers

3) For the Ihraam

4) For the one performing Hajj to bath at Arafah after the sun passesthe merdian.

Occasions When Ghusl Is Recommended

It is recommended to perform the major bath on 16occasions:

1)It is recommended for a person accepting Islam

while free from a major ritual impurity

2) One who matures by age

3) A person who recovers from insanity

4) After cupping (Hijamah)
