HP Smart Update Manager
INVENTORY•User tells HP SUM where the bundles/components are located (directory-based)
•User can optionally tell HP SUM to pull the latest updates from the web catalog
•User can optionally configure any components in the repositories that may need it
DISCOVERY•User provides or scans for IP address/DNS and credentials to each target
•HP SUM finds any associated devices and offers to check them as well if credentials are available/supplied by user
•HP SUM determines the target type, inventories it and determines applicable updates to apply to it
REVIEW•HP SUM validates dependencies on each target and between targets to provide a list of updates to apply
•User can modify selections, force updates, select reboot options, change hardware to be updated
•User can generate a report of updates to be applied or proceed with the installation
SCHEDULE / UPDATE•Updates are installed in the right order based on dependencies and inter-device requirements
•Updates can be scheduled for a later time
•Updates can be staged with a delayed or automated reboot
EVALUATE•HP SUM applies the updates and collects the return codes and logs for the user to review
•User reviews logs and can optionally reanalyze the targets or exit the application
•Reanalysis can provide a new list of recommended updates in a bunny-hop scenario
