CE 40 aquastatic Flexible grout Watertight, flexible dirt-resistant mortar for grouts with the width up to 5 mm CHARACTERISTICS ideally smooth resistant to water absorption flexible, on heated floors poor in chromium compound mould and dirt resistant with high adhesion with very good workability parameters inside and outside SCOPE OF USE Ceresit CE 40 mortar is used for grouting ceramic, glass and stone tiles both on horizontal and vertical surfaces (with the exception of natural stone and marble that are sensitive to discoloration). Thanks to a high degree of grout’s hydrophobic property (aquasta- tic effect) water drops remain in the shape of pearls on the surface without penetrating into the structure. It is an advantage that allows for applying this grout in the places especially endangered with temporary water treatment i.e. bathrooms, showers, kitchens. It may be applied inside and outside the buildings. It is especially recommended if tiles are laid on the deformed substra- tes: heated floors, chipboards and gypsum card- boards. CE 40 complies with the requirements of the standard PN-EN 13888:2004 – class CG2 Ar W (high parameters’ grout mortars with the increased resistance to abrasion and the reduced water absorption). Ceresit CE 42 mortar should be used for grouting marble tiles. Water resistance as well as chemical resistance ensures the application of the following Ceresit grouts: CE 44, CE 47 and CE 48. Any expansion gaps between tiles, corners, wall and floor connecting points and sanitary facilities should be filled in with silicon Ceresit CS 25. SUBSTRATE PREPARATION Tiles’ edges should be free from dirt. Grouting should be done when the tiles’ fixing material is set and dried. Prior to the application it should be checked whether CE 40 mortar does not make the surface of a tile per- manently dirt. Clean tiles’ edges should be dampened with a wet sponge. APPLICATION CE 40 should be poured to the measured amount of clean water and mixed until the homogenous mass is reached without any lumps. One cannot use any rusty equipment and tools. Mortar should be laid on the sur- face of tiles with a rubber float or a trowel. After ap- prox. 15 minutes the surplus of the material should be removed with a clean wet sponge. Any dried coating should be removed with a dry cloth. Pedestrian traffic is possible after 9 hours since the time of being applied. The first contact with water is possible after 24 hours. Within 5 days after application only clean water should be used without any cleaning agents. Grout reaches its complete hydrophobic property (resistance to water absorption) after 5 days since it is applied. CERESIT C_CE40_TM_11_0904 1 Z g o d n y z n o r m a P N - E N 1 3 8 8 8 CG2 Ar W

SCOPE OF USECeresit CE 40 mortar is used for grouting ceramic, glass and stone tiles both on horizontal and verticalsurfaces (with the exception of natural stone andmarble that are sensitive to discoloration). Thanks to ahigh degree of grout’s hydrophobic property (aquasta-tic effect) water drops remain in the shape of pearls onthe surface without penetrating into the structure. It isan advantage that allows for applying this grout in theplaces especially endangered with temporary watertreatment i.e. bathrooms, showers, kitchens. It may beapplied inside and outside the buildings. It is especiallyrecommended if tiles are laid on the deformed substra-tes: heated floors, chipboards and gypsum card-boards. CE 40 complies with the requirements of thestandard PN-EN 13888:2004 – class CG2 Ar W (highparameters’ grout mortars with the increased resistanceto abrasion and the reduced water absorption). CeresitCE 42 mortar should be used for grouting marble tiles.Water resistance as well as chemical resistance ensuresthe application of the following Ceresit grouts: CE 44,CE 47 and CE 48. Any expansion gaps between tiles, corners, wall and floor connecting points and sanitaryfacilities should be filled in with silicon Ceresit CS 25.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATIONTiles’ edges should be free from dirt. Grouting shouldbe done when the tiles’ fixing material is set and dried.

Prior to the application it should be checked whetherCE 40 mortar does not make the surface of a tile per-manently dirt. Clean tiles’ edges should be dampenedwith a wet sponge.

APPLICATIONCE 40 should be poured to the measured amount ofclean water and mixed until the homogenous mass isreached without any lumps. One cannot use any rustyequipment and tools. Mortar should be laid on the sur-face of tiles with a rubber float or a trowel. After ap-prox. 15 minutes the surplus of the material should beremoved with a clean wet sponge. Any dried coatingshould be removed with a dry cloth. Pedestrian trafficis possible after 9 hours since the time of being applied. The first contact with water is possible after 24 hours.Within 5 days after application only clean watershould be used without any cleaning agents. Groutreaches its complete hydrophobic property (resistanceto water absorption) after 5 days since it is applied.

PLEASE NOTEWork should be done in dry conditions at the air andsurface temperature ranging from +5 to +25 °C. Alldata refer to the temperature of +23 °C and relativehumidity of 50 %. In other conditions one should takefaster or slower hardening of the material into account.Too intensive removal of exceeding grout may revealthe aggregates and cause their rough surface. Intensiverinsing of the grouts may reduce the resistance to waterabsorption. Any dampened substrate, inadequate wa-ter dosing as well as heterogeneous drying conditionsmay cause discoloration. Cleaning agents with inten-sive colours should not be used. To avoid any differen-ces in colour CE 40 should be used with the same pro-duction badge number stated on the packaging. Pow-der CE 40 has irritation property, and when mixedwith water the content of cement gives the mortar alka-line reaction. Therefore skin and eyes should be pro-tected. In case of any contact of the material with eyesthey should be rinsed with water and then consultationwith a physician is recommended if necessary. Thecontent of chromium VI – below 2 ppm in the period of product validity.

OTHER INFORMATIONGrouts freshly laid should be protected against rain, dew and temperature drop below +5 °C until groutsare completely hardened and dried. This technical da-tasheet defines the range of material application andthe recommended way of conducting the work, how-ever, it cannot replace the contractor’s professionalqualification. Apart from the data provided theapplication should be done in compliance with theconstruction and safety work principles. The manufac-turer guarantees the quality of the product, however, hedoes not have any influence on the condition and theway of application. In case of any doubts individualapplication trials should be carried out. The previouslyissued data sheets become invalid with the issue of thisdata sheet.
