David Clerc est né le 10 avril 1971 à Fribourg, Suisse Entre 1987-1990 l’artiste suit des cours de dessin et peinture à l’académie Maximilien de Meuron, Neuchâtel. Il vit et travaille à paris depuis 2002. Son atelier se trouve dans le XIVème arrondissement.

Je marche, j’observe la ville et la nature. Je dessine ce que je vois et qui m’interpelle sans autre intention que de voir et d’entrer dans une réalité. Noter le moment. Fixer le paysage sur le papier autant qu’il s’imprime dans la mémoire. Dans l’atelier se met en place un lent processus pictural qui recourt à des techniques différentes comme autant de logiques de construction de la peinture. Appréhender un sujet par l’huile puis l’encre de chine, la tempera ou encore l’aquarelle me permet d’oublier le sujet pour en quelque sorte entrer dans la peinture, rêver le paysage, essayer de retrouver cette vision initiale de l’ordre de l’instant.Ces techniques ne sont pas pensées dans un sens traditionnel allant de l’étude à l’œuvre. Je circule de l’une à l’autre pour tenter d’approcher cette sensation première que je définirais comme une résonnance. Ce n’est pas le réel en lui-même que je peins mais tout part de lui. Bosquets, façades, escaliers et caténaires sont à l’origine de ma peinture.
