SINKING CONCRETE?Why does Concrete Settle and Sink

The first thing to understand about concrete raising is why the concrete has settled.

Merci Anima! » (Edward Hoodfar, Chirurgien-dentiste, Centre Dentaire Olym-pique)

Où le succès est une langue courantewww.animaltee.ca

Learning is EarningSure… a lot of people are talking about Communications

Anima’s individualized language training approach. And, with good reason.

Since 1982, Communications Anima has proven to be West Island’s leader in professional language training in oral and written French, English, Spanish, German and Mandarin. Learning a second language requires top-notch educational facilities and one-on-one personalized instruction.

The West Island’s Communications Anima Language Center capably bridges the gap between these two requirements. This family-owned academy offers a full range of profession-ally designed and taught language courses.

The curriculum covers group and private instruction; test preparation for the OLF (Offi ce québécois de la langue fran-çaise), TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), and other language exams as well as customized courses for cor-porations such as Bombardier, Merck Frosst and Avon to name

a few.Such courses provide training

that focuses on the specifi c ter-minology used in various profes-sions.

Yet Communications Anima of-fers a one-on-one learning ap-proach that cannot be matched by large institutions not just in private sessions, but in their group classes too (5 students maximum). The staff of instruct-ors at Anima has the professional experience, as well as the

educational background, re-quired to teach everyone from foreign students to working pro-fessionals seeking a promotion or a career change, and students of all ages.

“For many years, I took French courses at the free government centers but felt that I wasn’t pro-gressing at all. I had the same experience with courses offered through the universities; I was so discouraged and frustrated be-

Shawn Haney514.812.4752

I’ve been training with Shawn Haney for almost 6 months now. He takes his job very seriously, is highly motivated and is often 5 steps ahead. He knows what he is doing and is dedicated to it. I have a lot more energy and feel stronger physically. I live a busy lifestyle so it’s complementary to it. I’m not one to recommend, but if you’re looking for a trainer, look no further.

If you think that “time is money”, you probably don’t enjoy your leisure time as much as you could or, even, should and it is likely costing you your well-being and possibly the well-being of your family.

Leisure time for the average worker in North America has increased considerably over the last 5 decades and that should have made us happier, right? Yes, but apparently it hasn’t. On the contrary, we’ve taken our work ethic to the extreme and, thanks to our digital age, work is no longer a place we go to something we do, but a state of mind.

Sanford DeVoe and Julian House from the University of Toronto became interested in how putting a price on time affects the experience of our leisure time. In their study, they asked a sub-group of participants to calculate their hourly wage and then had everyone listen to beautiful music before continuing the experiment.

The participants who calculated their hourly wage showed lower satisfaction with listening to the music than the participants who weren’t asked to calculate their hourly wage, and this was due to a feeling of wasting one’s time. However, when the researchers specifi cally compensated the participants for listening to the music, those who had calculated their hourly wage showed just as much enjoyment with listening to the music as those who hadn’t calculated their hourly wage.

So thinking about time as a commodity reduces our enjoyment of our leisure time by making us impatient and blinds us to the non-economic, but important, sources of happiness, such as taking a walk in the park, hearing beautiful music, or just hanging out with family and friends.

How well do you enjoy your leisure time, your family time? Are you relaxed and fully present, or do you feel anxious and are constantly aware of fl eeing time?

Are you frustrated because you know you should be more successful than you are? What if reaching your next important goal could be made easier and quicker?

Dr. Irena O’Brien, PhD, ACMC, is a Business Psychology and Motivation Coach. She helps entrepreneurs and executives create their best “innergame” so they can achieve dramatic results quickly. She invites you to reach her through her web site, twitter or e-mail:

PAINFREE

A REVOLUTIONARYMETHOD FOR

STOPPINGCHRONIC PAIN!

“Pete Egoscue has totally changed my life, Never have I ex- perienced such complete pain relief as I have by following the Egoscue Method.” Jack Niclaus, Legendary golfer

“Born from the genius of Pete Egoscue, the simple and effective routines in Pain Free are the cutting edge of physical therapy.“ Anthony Robbins, Author: “Awaken the Giant Within”, “Unlimited Power”

“Shows how we can break the circuit of pain and naturally heal one of the most signifi cant disabilities of our times.“ Deepak Chopra, World-renowned mind-body healing pioneer

Welcome to Latitude Fitness forthe Egoscue Method® of Pain ReliefThis is an extremely effective program designed to treat musculo-skeletal pain without drugs, surgery, or manipulation.

The Egoscue Method@ recognizes that fundamental anatomic-al, physiological and biomechanical principles govern the human musculoskeletal system. With only very rare exceptions, each per-son is born with certain core design characteristics that serve as a strong, resilient and effi cient operational platform.

Egoscue is a process which involves a series of stretches and gentle egoscuecises (“e-cises”) designed specifi cally for each client. This process strengthens specifi c muscles and brings the body back to its proper alignment and functioning the way it was designed-pain free.

You will receive individual and expert attention from The Ego-scue Method® staff for analysis and relief of your pain condition. Your appointment will begin with an interview and description of the treatment. This is followed by various e-cises which relieve pain and show the source of problems. After analysis of the struc-tural causes of pain and lack of motion, a computer-based workup will be presented to you, along with a menu of exercises for you to take home and continue your treatment. You can live pain-free, call now for an appointment!

SANSDOULEURS

Une méthode révolutionnaire pour régler les

douleurs chroniques!

(...continued from page 7) Strictly for GolfersFor golfers, shoulder moti on can be infl uenced by restricti ons found in the mid-back muscles and joints, while restricti ons in the lower back might be infl uenced by problems in the hip region. For this reason, the assessment should be for the enti re body and not just the area that appears to be inhibiti ng the swing. For a golfer, the PILATES FUSION routi ne should start by doing the mobility exercises followed by those for balance and, lastly, the stability workout for stance and swing. You can increase club-head speed by developing fl exibility and then by learning how to control this newly developed fl exibility. Increase club power by training dynamic postural balance and by doing segmental coordinati on exercises for the enti re body.

Le Wellesley will cele-brate 23 years of qual-ity, excellence and ele-gant senior living. We are a community that takes great pride in its creative capacity to give back to those in need and its joy-ful celebration of our di-verse cultures.

We heartily invite you to share them with us, be-ginning on September 25th, 2012, when our Open House event will feature a replicated IrishPub environment. Come and enjoy an au-thentic Celtic band and refreshments!

We also wish to extend our invitation to attend a concert by the venerable Salvation Army Band, which kicks o our an-nual Christmas Basket Drive on October 21st, 2012. Your “price of ad-mission” is any non-per-ishable food product.

Because many of our res-idents are former mem-bers of the military, we celebrate their immense contribution and attempt to share their somber memories and thoughts on November 11th.

Le Wellesley is a truly vibrant and welcoming community. We sincerely look forward to meeting you in the near future.
