Please send along with this form copies of recommendations from churches which will encourageother churches to support your missionary work. There are churches which will not allow avisiting missionary to speak unless a church recommendation can be shown. Since it is impossible for any one person to know all Christians in the world, this recommendation by a responsible New Testament church is a vital help in persuading others of your worthiness and the valueof your mission. Mission Services stands ready to help you inform HORIZONS readers aboutyour church recommendations. Since the church is sending you to the mission field (Acts 13:1-3)and will help provide the necessary needs on the field, naturally the church should share thecredit in your missionary ministry. One of the ways that the church can do this is to share theirconviction regarding your missionary ministry with others. Certainly, their words will helpconvince others regarding the worthiness of your work. Please help MKSION SERVICES tospread your news through HORIZONS, Packets and Slide library by sending your church recommendations as soon as possible. Thanks. Send what you have now, and the others later.

NEWS VRITE-UP for MISSION SER7ICES, JOLIET, ILLINOIS.

Derrence & Donna Smaage have terminated their ministry with the Orchard StreetChristian Church, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and announced their decision to go asmissionaries to South Africa. They will he working with the Wynherg church inCapetown and also with the Gordon Nelson family who sailed Bor Capetown lastMarch and with John Pulford who will sail for Capetown thistative plans of the 3 missionary families will be to establish New Testamentchurches in the larger cities of South Africa, a task which has been neglectedperhaps because it is less glamourous and adventurous than the native workwhich has|( prospered in South Africa.

Mm

The Smaages are well suited for this type of missionary endeavor having hadministerial experience in both large and small churches, rural and city.

Bro. Smaage is a graduate of Minnesota Bible College and has done graduatework at Lincoln Christian Seminary, Lincoln, 111. and also Trinity SeminaryDeerfield, Illinois. He has held ministries in Albert Lea, Minnesota, Worth-ington, Indiana and Milwaukee, Wisconsin^ and comes to the mission fieldhighly recommended by the churches he and his wife have served. Donna alsoattended Minnesota Bible College but her academic career was cut short whenthe two were married August 25, 195^. Gracious, and always charming she hasexcelled in the service of Christ in the most difficult role of all; that ofa minister's wife. The Smaages have been blessed with 5 children, Timothywho died in childbirth in Cheryl who is now 6 years old and Kevin whois k, 1957

Derrence claims the Church of Christ at Storm Lake, Iowa as his home churchwhere he was baptized by Brother Herman Kooy, minister of the church at thattime. DoggaJSj^home church is the church at Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin whereher father^is a deacon and her mother serves as Sunday School treasurer.Ralph Michaels is the present minister.

The Smaage's desire is simply to serve Christ to the best of their abilityand because of this have decided to use an airplane to hasten the work ofevangelism in South Africa. Brother Smaage is not only an able minister butalso an experienced commercial pilot. He turned down an opportunity to flyfor the largest Airline company in the U.S.A. (American Airlines) in orderto respond to God's call to the ministry. He freely admits that this^^^ thebest decision he has ever made and has never ceased to wonder at the blessingsand goodness God has given to XXX/XXXX/ this life.

The Smaage family hopes to sail for Capetown this coming January, 1966. Theyare available for speaking dates now through December and are in need ofliving-link and service-link support. They may be contacted directly at7315 West Orchard Street, Milwaukee, Wise. 5521^ or through their forwardingagents, Mr-Mrs Fred Crawford, 1279 Martha Washington Bpive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 55213» Tour prayers are earnestly sought on their behalf as theyseek support which will enable them to preach to the countless thousandsoutside of Christ in South Africa.
