Heyri IbidemThis new building by Studio Asylum is a combination art gallery, retail space and private residence. The setting in rural South Korea (near the DMZ) provides a sublime context for this modernist experiment. The design is complex, with a deliberate blending of indoor, outdoor, and interstitial spaces, which are meant to mimic the valleys and meadows in its natural surroundings.

Anaheim Downtown

Redevelopment

Since this plan’s inception, over 700,000 square feet of commercial space has been developed, along with 230 new and 30 renovated residential units.

I helped design and present conceptual options for the overall plan, civic center expansion, ice rink lobby and offices, and a proposed new theater.

associated entry area, offices and retail. Existing ice rink adjacent was

designed by Frank Gehry.

While at Field Paoli, the work I did often blurred the line between urban design and architecture. This downtown scheme includes conceptual designs for an expansion of the existing city hall and council chambers, a new ice rink, and a new performing arts

center. I developed these designs under the direction of Principal-in-Charge Frank Fuller, and with the expert help of Senior Urban Designer Heidi Sokolowsky.

Saint Trophime ChurchThe Church of St. Trophime is a Roman Catholic church and former cathedral built between the 12th century and the 15th century in the city of Arles, France. The church is an important example of Romanesque architecture, and the sculptures over the portal, particularly the Last Judgement, and the columns in the adjacent cloister, are considered some of the finest examples of Romanesque sculpture.

CyArk recently added Saint Trophime to its growing list of World Heritage sites digitally preserved through 3d laser scanning.

Saint Trophime CloisterThe cloister was constructed in stages from the 12th to 14th centuries. Going clockwise from North to West, the galleries show a progression from Romanesque arches and barrell vaults to Gothic arches and groin vaults. So in addition to displaying a wonderful array of textures and natural lighting arrangements, the project also offers a lesson in architectural history.

I created these 3d visualizations for CyArk using 3dsMax, VRay and ZBrush. They are based on precise as-built drawings as well as CyArk’s site photography.

Transit Center District Plan View Studies

This plan includes the new Transit Center tower, which will be the tallest in San Francisco, as well as a number of other commercial, residential, and mixed-use towers in the SOMA area.

Treasure Island Redevelopment Visual Impact Analysis

The development plans for Treasure Island include 8,000 new residential units (30% of which will be offered at below-market rates), three hotels, a 400-slip marina, restaurants, retail and entertainment venues—plus nearly 300 acres of parks and open space. The development is clustered around a new ferry terminal and is designed to prioritize walking, biking and public transit.

Alliance Town CenterThis 538,000 SF regional hybrid retail center is part of the AllianceTexas 17,000-acre master-planned community, north of Fort Worth, TX. Phase I of the 300-acre power center and lifestyle mixed-use development opened in Fall 2008. A joint venture with Hillwood Devel-opment, Inc., Alliance Town Center will integrate retail, office, residential and hospital uses with 7 national anchors, most reporting top sales in the region.

Over the course of two years, I helped design nearly a dozen buildings under the direction of principal-in-charge Yann Taylor. I also de-veloped all of the presentation boards and marketing images for this very large project.

Octavia Boulevard Infill Housing

Design CompetitionThe Better Neighborhoods Market-Octavia Plan allows for

1,000 new housing units and vibrant retail space in a densely populated, historic neighborhood. Included in its

recommendations is the development of dense infill housing on vacant and underutilized sites that, given the

neighborhood character, would be pedestrian-, transit- and bike-oriented, with minimal or no parking.

I worked on a number of Whole Foods grocery projects, complex constructions which involved the production of many sets of drawings, coordination with en-gineers and the client, and getting ap-proval from design review boards and local planning and health departments. I worked under the direction of Principal-in-Charge Bill Brigham.

Alameda Town CenterI worked in many areas on this large project, off and on for three years, including schematic design, leasing,

design development, construction documents, detailing, and some construction administration.

Pleasanton Library

I worked with Principal-In-Charge Mark Schatz and Senior Designer Steve

Lovell on schematic design options for this library and the surrounding civic

center area.

The Orchard at WestminsterDenver, CO

Under the direction of Principal-in-Charge Yann Taylor and Senior Designer Joe Champion, I helped design numerous buildings and streetscapes in elevation and in 3d. I was delighted

to visit the site in Denver last year and see how successful our designs were in real life.

Office InteriorsI created these office interior renderings using 3dsMax 2012 and VRay 2. They are meant to convey a sense of openness and conviviality within a modern workplace setting.
