C2C Bizz project● 11 NWE partners: government, knowledge institutes

and companies

● Objective: To encourage the application of C2C on business sites – A C2C business site is a site that is future proof (flexible

and resilient) and has a positive effect on society, nature and economy

– Concrete C2C examples on pilot sites – Raise interest of companies and governmental

organisations in C2C– Feasibility (financial) to apply C2C on business sites

Sustainable Industries Park in London will close material loops by setting up a material database

and enhancing the exchange of materials between companies.

At Ecoparc Windhof in Luxembourg sustainable energy will be generated for the

business site.

In Lille the brownfield La Lainière will be refurbished with attention to different forms of

diversity.

Economic zones - pilot sites

C2C material management Example – Paper cascade● Paper cannot be recycled

endlessly -> not a technical nutrient

● Wood should be used at its highest potential first (ex: furniture); then recycled into chipboard, then paper, etc.

● Burning for energy recovery and ashes is the lowest level of the cascade

20

Page 21: LUXEMBOURG CREATIVE 2016 : Plateformes d'échange (3)

C2C BIZZ - case study paper● Applied study on how to realize continuous

loops on a service oriented site.

● High quantity of paper waste (~750t/y)● Proposed solution: separate combined

collection of confidential paper by local logistic company and transportation to specialized recycler

● Very high volume requirements for commercial viability
