Histoire

Tout commence en 1958, lorsque

Jean Bousquet, originaire de Nmes et

titulaire dun CAP de tailleur, monte Paris

pour crer une affaire artisanale de panta-

lons pour femmes.

Le 16 mars 1962, il dpose la marque

Jean Cacharel , et obtient ds lanne

suivante, le 8 novembre 1963, son premier

succs grce au dsormais clbre che-

misier en crpon rose photographi par

Peter Knapp en couverture du magazine

Elle, et aussitt surnomm Le Cacharel .

Les stylistes Emmanuelle Khan puis

Corinne Sarrut sont trs vite engages

pour dessiner les collections. En 1968,

Sarah Moon, jeune photographe incon-

nue lpoque, rencontre Jean Bousquet.

Cest le dbut dune collaboration heu-

reuse, enrichie par larrive du publicitaire

Robert Delpire.

A eux quatre ils donnent naissance

lunivers de Cacharel : un univers roman-

tique, immortalis jamais par des images

inoubliables, envotantes, rveuses et

potiques.

A la fin des annes 60 closent les

premiers chemisiers Liberty. Cacharel est

dsormais devenue une marque floris-

sante, une rfrence de mode, dont les

robes Liberty explosent avec la gnra-

tion des 70s.

Aprs avoir lanc ses premires col-

lections Femme, Homme, Enfant, et obte-

nu loscar de lexportation en 1969, Jean

Bousquet diversifie ses activits. Il lance le

parfum Anas Anas, encore ce jour lun

des premiers parfums mondiaux, puis Lou-

lou, Noa, Amor Amor, Scarlett et le tout

dernier : Amor Amor Forbidden Kiss.

Au dbut des annes 2000,

Cacharel entreprend une profonde muta-

tion pour retrouver lnergie crative de

ses dbuts et sadjoint le talent des desi-

gners Clements-Ribeiro. Cacharel dfile

de nouveau dans le cadre de la semaine

de la mode parisienne et renoue avec son

succs de jadis.

Cest ensuite aux anglais Eley Kishi-

moto, rois de limprim, de dessiner pen-

dant 3 saisons les collections de la Maison

de la rue Tronchet. Ils laissent place en

2009 au talent cratif de Cdric Charlier,

designer belge qui amorce le retour de la

marque vers un romantisme certain et des

coupes prcises pendant 4 saisons.

En novembre 2009, le rapprochement

de Cacharel avec le groupe italien AEFFE

(Alberta Ferretti, Philosophy, Moschino,

Pollini), par la signature dun contrat de

licence permet la Maison de se renforcer

et de se dployer sur le plan international.

Aujourdhui Cacharel est vendu dans

un rseau de boutiques multimarques et

concept-stores en France et linterna-

tional (Barneys, Saks, Harvey Nichols, Le

Printemps) alors que les nouveaux desi-

gners Dawei Sun et Ling Liu prsentent la

nouvelle collection t 2012 et renouent

avec les codes de la maison : fracheur,

romantisme et fminit.

Cinquante ans aprs sa cration,

Cacharel reste une marque iconique en-

tre dans lhistoire du prt porter, ayant

cre la silhouette dune femme assume

qui aime jouer avec la mode sans jamais en

subir les diktats.

History

It all started in 1958 when Jean

Bousquet, born in Nmes, and just quali-

fied tailor, came to Paris to launch a small

business of womens pants. In March 1962,

he named his society after the name of a

bird from Camargue: Jean Cacharel and

the year after he obtained his first great

success when the photographer

Peter Knapp took a picture of the now

legendary crepe pink shirt that ended up

on the cover of the magazine Elle, the shirt

was then called le Cacharel.

Emmanuelle Khan and Corinne Sarrut

are quickly hired to design the collections.

In 1968, Sarah Moon, a young unknown

photographer, meets Jean Bousquet. Its

the beginning of a happy collaboration

strengthened with the arrival of publicist,

Robert Delpire. The four of them give birth

to the Cacharel universe: a romantic one,

immortalized through unforgettable, poe-

tical pictures.

The blossom of Liberty shirts and

dresses at the end of the 60s makes of

Cacharel a reference of the 70s mood.

Having launched his first menswear,

womenswear and childrenswear collec-

tions, and having been awarded the Oscar

for exportation in 1969, Jean Bousquet di-

versifies his activities by branching out into

perfumery: Anas Anas, the first perfume

remains today one of the worlds best-sel-

ling fragrances, Loulou, Noa, Amor Amor

and Scarlett will follow. The latest one

came out this year: Amor Amor Forbidden

Kiss.

At the beginning of 2000,

Cacharel undertakes a serious change to

find again the creative energy of its start:

the talented designers Clements-Ribeiro

allow Cacharel to participate to the Pari-

sian Fashion Week and to tie again with

success.

Its then the English kings of prints

Eley Kishimotos turn to draw the collec-

tions of the Tronchet House during 3 sea-

sons. In 2009, the Belgian designer Cdric

Charlier, designs romantic collections with

precise cuts during 4 seasons.

In November 2009, Cacharel signs a

license contract with Italian Group AEFFE

(Alberta Ferretti, Philosophy, Moschino,

Pollini), therefore the French House,

strongest, really opens out internationally.

Nowadays Cacharel is sold in a

network of multibrands stores and concept

stores in France and worldwide (Barneys,

Saks, Harvey Nichols, le Printemps...) so

as the new designers Dawei Sun and Ling

Liu present the new spring-summer 2012

collection and get back to the traditional

house codes: freshness, romanticism and

femininity.
