Dear Friends,
It’s “Back to School” time! We’ve
been seeing the signs – the sales, and
now it is here. As I write this, the
youth of our community are
preparing to head back to the classroom this week.
This week many of the parents and youth will be at
open houses, meeting new teachers, getting an idea
of what their classes will be like, and getting their
minds and bodies ready for the action.
Summer is a time when our normal routines become
a little more relaxed, and now we begin to focus on
establishing whatever the “normal” routine is for our
families. And here at the church we get back to our
normal routine by returning to our Sunday School
schedule.
On Sept. 8th, churches across America are
participating in “Back to Church” time!
Summer is over, the choir is back in session, and
hopefully you will be back in the pews, renewed
from your leisure times throughout the summer.
During all of September, we hope you will take the
time to invite friends, family, and neighbors to join
us in worship. Will you take the time to get
involved? Who will you invite someone to come to
worship or Sunday School?
Come join us and bring your friends for “Back To
Church Sunday”!
Shalom
Rev. Donna

September, school and the Chancel Choir! Thank
you to each person who provided special, diverse
music for the summer services. Sincerely, you are
all appreciated very much.
The first choir practice will be Thursday, Sept. 5, at
7 PM. We’ll plan to offer the first anthem of the
2013-2014 Choral Year the following Sunday, Sept.
8. It’s always exciting to start our new year as we
look forward to giving the very best to regular
worship services and to special services throughout
the liturgical year.
Sometimes, with affection, the choir refers to
themselves as “The Gang.” Well, speaking for
myself and all of the members of the choir, we
warmly welcome any person who would like to be
part of the choir also known as, in their words, “The
Gang.” We enjoy caring, friendship, singing, sharing
and worshiping together. You will also likely find
unique blessings as each anthem harbors a spiritual
message within the content.
If you are not able to attend every Thursday
rehearsal, not to worry because the anthems,
especially new ones, are usually practiced far in
advance of the time they’re used in the service. In
fact, we have one anthem, “Gonna Sit Down and
Rest a While” that we’ve had pending for more than
a year. It’s neat, it’s fun – and it’s also been a
challenge rhythm-wise.
Thank you to the congregation for support and
encouragement. And thank you to each member of
the choir as we launch an exciting new Choral Year.

Nancy
The United Methodist Women will meet Saturday
morning, September 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Our
guest speaker with be Mark Steinmetz who will be
doing a slide program on the 1913 Flood. The
program will begin at 10:00 a.m. and men, women,
teens and children are invited. Refreshments will be
served following the program. The UMW will meet
for a short meeting after the program.
Our mission this month will be the Shoebox
Ministry. Once again, due to the limited time in
November to get the boxes together, we are asking
you to support this Mission a little early this year.
There is a shipping fee of $7.00 per Shoebox. Please
make checks out to Faith UMC or put this amount in
an envelope marked “Shoebox Ministry” and put in
the collection plate, NOT in the actual box. If you
are unable to make up a box, but would like to help
with shipping costs, we would love for you to do that.
Again, I will be available to
shop for you & make up the
boxes, if you would like. If
you have any questions,
please contact Susan Young
at 567-220-6303 or see me
at church.
The SERVE TEAM is also asking for items for
the Flood Buckets during the month of
September. We are asking for a bottle of dish soap
(16-28 oz. any brand), 18
cleaning wipes or reusable
wipes, (no terry cleaning
towels) and 7 sponges. At the
end of the year, it will be fun to
see just how many Flood
Buckets and Health Kits we
will have, by collecting specific items each month.
Thank you for your participation.

What a blessing you have all been during my
hospitalization and recuperation!
Your prayers lifted and sustained me during
the most difficult days, and I give God all of
the glory for the healing. There were days
when I felt as if I was lifted up off of the
hospital bed by all of the prayers being offered.
Words cannot express my gratitude.
Thank you for the prayers, the flowers, and
acts of kindness extended to both Karl and
myself.
I give God praise every time I think of what a
wonderful church family Faith UMC has
become.
Rev. Donna
THANK YOU

I am now in re-hab and increasing in strength.
Thanks to everyone for your concern.
Hope to see you in church!!
Sincerely ~ John Fetzer

Celebrate Colossians
Are you overwhelmed by all of the
different opinions, viewpoints, and
especially, religions in the world? The church at
Colosse had the same problem. Members were
mixing different religions together and diffusing the
purpose of Christianity. Paul wrote to the Colossians
that they should keep their focus on Christ as the true
and only Savior.
In the DVD presentation, Pastor Keith Loy, focuses
on the supremacy of Christ and how it impacts our
everyday lives. He relates Paul's examples of how to
grow in Christ-likeness. He stresses practical
everyday life issues and how keeping Christ first
impacts the viewer.
