    Kiran Grewal is a former solicitor, specialising in immigration law.Having completed the first year of her PhD at the University of

    Technology, Sydney, Kiran became involved with a doctoralcotutelle programme that allowed her to continue her research at Universite Rennes2.

    Kiran has only recently returned to her research after a year's leave of absence, during which time she was working at the International Secretariatof Amnesty International in London on a project researching crimes of sexual violence under international law. She has drafted two Amnestyreports which are to be published later this year and most recently has spentthree months in Sierra Leone working as a senior researcher for theUniversity of California, Berkeley War Crimes Studies Centre monitoringwar crimes trials at the United Nations Special Court for Sierra Leone.
