EeB-02-2018: Building information modelling adapted to efficient renovation
Challenge : BIM tools : new buildings > existing buildings produce compatible tools that would allow to collect data from existing buildings
(e.g. geometric data) and exploit data from different sources.
Dvlp new BIM tool kits that would exploit various sources of data and models associated : To harmonise different data sources regarding the components and equipment of a
building include existing building parameters, as well as the environmental and GIS data. Be flexible in coupling the overall BIM system with other additional types of models (e.g.
buildings acoustics; economical evaluation of various renovations scenarios) Be flexible to adapt to work planning Can use inputs from non-professional audience composed of tenants & inhabitants Including standardisation aspects
Impact :
A reduction of the renovation working time of at least 15 -20 % wrt refrence
Acceleration of the market uptake in particular amongst constructing/ renovations companies with a target of 50% of their renovation business based on BIM.
Creation of best practice examples for the construction retrofitting sector with benefits for the operators and associated stakeholders (architects, designers, planners, etc.)

EeB-06-2018-20: ICT for proactive residential buildings and construction, design to end of life
Turning buildings from reactivity to proactivity trough smart ICT (Inhabitants level and
energy management and contracting level):
provide the most important parameters to be measured and controlled for integrated and demand-based control of the building service system, including self-management, self-monitoring, self-maintenance and self-optimisation
Systematic & standardised approach to process the data generated by the sensors, forecasting services and end-users. Big Data use by advanced data visualisation to optimise the operation of the building;
fully integrated systems : compact, exchangeable, and easy to commission & operate;
Implement and demonstrate new business models that provide services which enable buildings to be proactive.
Impact
Operation and maintenance cost reductions of at least 20% compared to current situation
Energy cost reductions of at least 30% compared to current situation
Improved indoor environment and higher % of satisfied users High replication potential

Affordable, faster (20%), more reliable in terms of performance, less disruptive for occupants,
less time-consuming, less energy-intensive, more environmentally friendly
Asked :
• innovation in technology, design and construction methods
• integration of disciplines across the value chain > innovations in business models
• heating & cooling systems and the integration of on-site renewable energy generation, energy
storage systems (optional : district heating and cooling systems, hybrid energy systems)
• quick and simple installation. 20% time reduction.
• monitoring and displaying of real time energy performance and other relevant data (including
in service use)
• solutions should ensure high levels of occupant comfort (thermal, visual and acoustic) and
indoor environmental quality (e.g. air quality, humidity)
All solutions should be demonstrated & replicable for defined building typologies in several
districts/cities/regions.
