Pour sa 5e édition, le Festival d’Aix en partenariat avec Audiens, organise CULTURE NUM qui pour la première fois s’installe dans ce lieu d’innovation unique qu’est thecamp.À contre-courant des scénarios catastrophes induits par les accélérations technologiques, une pensée de fond propose un tout autre modèle invitant à l’utopie. Une utopie dans laquelle le numérique renforce les connexions entre les personnes, crée de nouvelles formes de solidarité et de partage. Lors de cette journée, nous sommes invités à imaginer le futur d’une société numérisée où l’art, la performance et la forme opéra sont en perpétuelle réinvention centrée sur l’humain.

// For its 5th edition, the Festival d’Aix, in partnership with Audiens, is organising CULTURE NUM which will take place for the first time in the uniquely innovative place, thecamp.Running counter to the disaster scenarios predicted for the technological revolution, a fundamental re-think will offer us a completely different model that could lead us towards utopia. An utopia in which digital technology strengthens connections between people, creating new forms of solidarity and sharing. During this one-day seminar, we are invited to imagine the future of a digitised society in which art, performance and the operatic form are perpetually reinventing themselves in a human-centered way.

11h00 - 12h30 • INSPIRATION // 11 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. INSPIRATIONCe séminaire s’ouvre par les interventions de Beatrice Pembroke (Tech for Good et Global Cultural Districts Network, UK) et Djordje Krivokapic (Share Foundation, Serbia).

// The seminar opens with contributions from Beatrice Pembroke (Tech for Good and Global Cultural Districts Network, UK) and Djordje Krivokapic (SHARE Foundation, Serbia).

• Beatrice Pembroke présente une réflexion sur la technologie et l’innovation numérique au service du bien social et explique comment les outils numériques créent des conditions d’accélération des dispositifs d’entraide et viennent renforcer le lien social d’une manière totalement nouvelle et à une échelle potentiellement exceptionnelle. 

// Beatrice Pembroke offers a view of technology and digital innovation as a force for social good and explains how digital tools can help deliver mutual assistance arrangements more quickly and strengthen social ties in a completely new way and on a potentially exceptional scale.

14h - 15h30 • SCÉNARIOS // 2 p.m. – 3.30 p.m. SCENARIOSCette session participative conçue avec thecamp se présente comme un atelier d’anticipation pour simuler le futur de la création artistique et interroger la capacité du numérique à améliorer ou à totalement ré-inventer la forme comme le contenu.

// This session, designed in partnership with thecamp, offers a foresight workshop to simulate the future of artistic creation and discuss how digital technology might be used to improve or completely re-invent both form and content.

15h30 - 16h30 • PARTAGE // 3.30 p.m. – 4.30 p.m. SHARING SESSIONLa dernière session propose un retour en collectif et un partage des scénarios qui auront émergé des ateliers, comme autant de sources d’inspiration à confronter avec la réalité.

// The last session offers an opportunity for collective feedback and to share scenarios that have emerged from the workshops to find inspirations to be confronted to the reality.

Cette journée se clôturera par la présentation d’Anthony Heidweiller, directeur artistique associé du festival Opera Forward au National Opera and Ballet d’Amsterdam. Anthony, également chanteur, est impliqué dans la création de nouvelles formes opératiques notamment dans des projets participatifs impliquant toutes les générations. En 2001, il a monté le YO! Opera (Youth Opera Festival) pour promouvoir l’opéra auprès des jeunes. Il a ainsi inventé de nouvelles formes d’engagement, pour lesquelles il a reçu de nombreux prix qui saluaient leur caractère particulièrement novateur. Anthony défend l’idée que l’opéra et le chant ont le pouvoir de connecter les individus entre eux. Sa contribution en session de clôture nous permettra d’ouvrir des perspectives sur l’avenir de l’opéra.

// The day will end with a presentation by Anthony Heidweiller, Artistic Associated Director of the Opera Forward Festival at the National Opera and Ballet of Amsterdam. Anthony is a singer and an operamaker, as well as a visionary for new operatic forms, having amassed a huge amount of expertise in involving all the generations in participative projects. In 2001 he presented YO! Opera (Youth Opera Festival) to promote opera to young people, inventing new forms of engagement, for which he received numerous prizes in recognition of their particularly innovative character. Anthony argues that opera and singing have the power to connect people. His contribution in the closing session will enable us to assess the outlook for the future of opera.

Beatrice Pembroke est une experte britannique de l’économie créative, ayant un intérêt particulier pour la culture numérique comme moyen de répondre aux enjeux du 21ème siècle. Elle est actuellement Directrice de Global Cultural Districts Network, l’alliance internationale des quartiers créatifs. Beatrice a été pendant 10 ans Directrice Creative Economy au British Council, où elle a dirigé de grands programmes stratégiques dans 30 pays dans le monde venant renforcer le rôle social et civique du secteur créatif. Béatrice s’est spécialisée dans l’exploration de nouveaux champs de l’innovation technologique, le soutien aux leaders de demain, les nouveaux espaces civiques et collaboratifs. Elle est la co-fondatrice de Tech for Good Global, et a également été conseillère de Martha Lane Fox, figure renommée de l’innovation technologique, co-fondatrice de lastminute.com et présidente non exécutive de Twitter. 

// Beatrice Pembroke is a British expert in the creative economy with a special interest in digital culture as a way of responding to the challenges of the 21st century. Beatrice is currently Director of the Global Cultural Districts Network and was Director of Creative Economy at the British Council for 10 years, where she ran major strategic programmes in 30 countries across the globe, aiming at strengthening the social and civic role of the creative sector. Beatrice specialises in exploring new fields of technological innovation, supporting tomorrow’s leaders, and new civic and collaborative spaces. She is co-founder of Tech for Good Global and was also a special advisor to technology trailblazer Martha Lane Fox, the co-founder of lastminute.com and a non-executive director of Twitter.

• Dr. Djordje Krivokapic explore quant à lui la société de partage, questionnant les tendances actuelles de partage des outils et des biens, à l’instar d’airbnb, et comment ils peuvent amener à une plus profonde dématérialisation de la société.

// Dr. Djordje Krivokapic’s work on the sharing society explores the current trend towards sharing tools and goods, such as the Airbnb phenomenon, and how this might lead to a more dematerialised society.

Dr. Đorđe Krivokapic est directeur juridique et politique à la Share Foundation en Serbie. Il dirige la recherche interdisciplinaire et l’équipe juridique qui défend les intérêts publics concernant les droits numériques, dans les domaines notamment de la vie privée, la liberté d’expression, la sécurité et l’accès aux connaissances. Il est aussi Professeur au Business Systems Organization Department, Faculty of Organizational Sciences, à l’Université de Belgrade. Son terrain de spécialisation est à l’intersection entre le domaine légal et la technologie, où les enjeux et les impacts des nouvelles technologies sur la société et les marchés sont particulièrement forts. 

// Dr. Đorđe Krivokapic is Legal and Policy Director of SHARE Foundation, where he leads an interdisciplinary research and advocacy team that fights for the public interest in digital rights in the areas of privacy, freedom of expression, security and open access to knowledge. He also teaches at the Business Systems Organisation Department, Faculty of Organisational Sciences, University of Belgrade. His main area of interest is the intersection of law and technology, where the challenges and impact of emerging technologies on society and markets are particularly strong.

La session se clôturera par un mot de Bernard Foccroulle, Directeur général du Festival d’Aix-en-Provence et Patrick Bezier, Directeur général d’Audiens.

12h30 - 14h • PAUSE DÉJEUNER // 12.30 p.m. – 2 p.m. LUNCH BREAKUn déjeuner sur place est offert à tous les participants. Une visite de thecamp est également proposée pendant cette pause.

// An on-site lunch is offered to all participants. A visit of thecamp is also available during this break.

Le public sera réparti en petits groupes qui seront amenés à s’interroger sur des thématiques volontairement utopistes et à s’affranchir des contraintes du réel pour produire des scenarios qui seront par la suite présentés au reste des participants.

// The audience will be divided in small groups to reflect upon themes intentionally utopian and to forget constraints of the real world to produce scenarios that will be presented to the other participants during the last session.
